Yesterday we had a not uncommon argument as when mum gives us lovely food I would like to have both bowls to myself. So I started on Josie's bowl and she ran off into the bedroom. Mum followed her in there with my bowl so I trotted after, of course. I was very unhappy to see my food go.
Mum picked me up and put me back with Josie's bowl but I would finish that once I had finished my own so off I went. But mum was sneaky, or so she thought, and she shut the bedroom door. I can't open that so I sat there and wished I could.
Moments later mum heard clawing at the carpet by the door. "Is that you Toby? I'm not opening it until Josie has finished." But it wasn't me. It was Josie from inside. She was extremely unhappy at finding herself imprisoned in one room and was working on digging her way out.
When mum opened the door she was very relieved and went back to the food she had been enjoying until the door shut. I made my move but mum was there and stood over Josie until she had finished so I only got one bowl of food.
Mum thought she had been clever to seperate us so Josie could eat in peace but she hadn't allowed for the feline dislike of closed doors. Mum asked if she will still have to stand over us at mealtime in fifteen years? I don't know but I sure hope so!

I've only ever had one bowl to eat from. So what is the fascination in eating Josie food when you have exactly the same food in your bowl? I don't like being shut in either. Mum reckons I have paws of thunder when I want out as I bang the hell out of the door until someone lets me out.
Ka-zar, the food is ALWAYS tastier in another cat's bowl!!! I is always eating Mayflower's food and she is always wanting to eats mine too! But we does still has different foods, because I still need to kitten food to grow HUUUUUUUUGE but Mayflower keeps eating it so she is getting fat, Mummy says only another couple of months and then we will has the same foods!
Toby you must learn mealtime manners!
Zoey and I have both of our dishes on the counter and about a foot apart facing each other so we can look up to see if the other is still eating. I am a faster eater than Zoey, so am always finished first. I sit by my dish and wait for Zoey to get finished. I don't rush her at all. After she is done, and only until she has walked away, do I go over and wash her dish for her (it is always empty). Mommy would always stand around the kitchen to keep an eye on us but she can walk away now and I still have my manners.
