Toby's Diary

Mum and Josie being sneaky

Yesterday mum opened the doors again and I went out to chase leaves. I can go out any time I like but Josie said, and my Catster friends seem to agree, that it is safest to only go out when my mum is home so she can chase off any bad cats so I pretty much stick to that.

Anyway I was out saving the world from aggressive leaves and I brought one in to show. But where was mum? Not on the sofa, not in the kitchen. I found her in the bedroom. She had a feather stick and Josie was doing some pretty impressive leaping about in pursuit of it.

I watched a moment and I wanted to play too. I leapt up and grabbed the stick and really showed Josie how it was done. The sneaky things is that it turns out they quite often have play time while I'm out. Mum says it's because I'm not very good at sharing and Josie needs some special time too. What is sharing again? I know someone did once tell me but I don't think I liked the sound of it.

I always worry that I might be missing out on something. I like to follow mum around in case she starts a game or serves up a snack; I like to eat from both bowls in case one is better; I join in when mum and Josie have snuggles in case mum forgets me.

Mum can't think why I'm like this as I've had a good life and never missed out on anything but a cat can't be too careful.

Mums can be scary when it comes to unwanted cats. Mum came home from being out today and our cat friend from across the road was in our yard and I was out. Mum went and chased it down and started yelling at it so loudly she scared the hell out of me. He ran as fast as he could back to his own house. I always end up at the vets if I get in cat fights. I'm a lover not fighter. Sounds like good advice to me. Mums are there to protect us.
