My mum spent quite a long time trying to get the back door locked but in the end she had to give up. I thought this was marvellous as she could never go out again but she was on the phone to people and said she would get it sorted.
Then suddenly she put my collar on me. I didn't mind as I knew I could out run it. I even purred when she gave me a little stroke after. and then I was off. I ran as fast as any cat could but no matter how fast my legs went the collar came to. Rats! I hadn't allowed for that.
I am getting used to it now althouth it's a little itchy.
Mum says that now I can use the cat flap but Josie said it is better to get mum to hold it open. It doesn't mess up your fur that way and if you stand there long enough looking sorry for yourself she will always help out.
I was snoozing - actually we all were, when the man came. he banged the lock about and took pieces off and then he came and told my mum that it is bad news. The lock is so old and fixed in he couldn't just take it out and add a new one. He said her best bet would be a whole new door.
This was not what my mum wanted to hear so she asked if he could lock it one last time so at least it was secure while she works out what to do and he was able to do that.
He came in the sitting room to do the paperwork and saw me and was obviously very impressed. Turns out he has two black cats of his own. I thought I could smell something interesting. I had a good sniff of his boots and then scrambled up on his lap which he didn't mind and then I checked over the paperwork. My mum had to sign it and I reckoned I should leave my mark too so they would know that the cat of the houss approved. (Josie vanished when he arrived and what with all the banging we didn't see her for some time after he had gone.)
Mum then went to work and when she came back I asked her how I would ever get in the garden and she smiled and said not to worry. We went in the sitting room and she slid part of the big window across. Wow! I never knew she could do that. So actually not having one door isn't so bad. That window was open all evening and I was in and out, a very happy cat.
It had rained a lot yesterday so I came in a bit soggy from being in the long grass sometimes but it was fabulous. Even Josie joined in some of the games. And mum tried to take some pictures of me out there. She took loads but I was so bounding about that most of them are just a wisp of tail as I ran off. He He!

Wet long grass is great fun. I love running around in it and then cuddling up to mum hates the smell of grass on me. I don't have any magic doors where I live so mum or one of my other humans have to open the door for me but you are right about one thing if you look cute for long enough you can humans to do anything for you. It's been working for me for the last 13 years.
