Arrival Story:
I had just turned 18 a few months ago & moved in to my new apartment by myself & had also just got out of a long-term relationship. I'd been staying at my apartment & was feeling a little lonely when I noticed my neighbors had cats & one had a dog. Turns out you didn't need one of those deposits either, so that was a plus. I called dad & had him bring one of the new kittens over, they were 4 months old. He showed up with the black & white tuxedo cat we'd nicknamed Sylvester after a farm cat we had when I was a kid. Sylvester's stay was only supposed to be temporary, just to keep me company for a few days. But we liked each other's company so much it became a rather permanent arrangement. I'm now almost 20 & he's almost 2, he's grown into quite the character.

Hi, I'm Sylvester. [meow]

Some interesting developments since my last entry.

Since my last entry mommy took me to the vet yet again (few months ago now) to see what was causing my dermatitis. Well after we deduced before it wasn't just plain dermatitis from fleas after my 2nd trip, mommy & the vet decided to cut out anything with dyes or fragrances in it. The vet suggested mommy try cat foods that don't have red dye (you'd be surprised how many do, but I don't know why because I don't care what color my food is as long as it tastes yummy) & scented/dyed cat litter. I've been fine ever since. So apparently I had developed an allergy to red dye, & possibly cat litter with dye/fragrances. Mommy teases me sometimes about my "special litter & special food", but she does it in all good fun cause she loves me. Now I'm eating Purina Cat Chow Naturals & Cat's Pride Fragrance & Dye Free Litter.

Do any of you other kittehs have allergies?

Mommy took me to the vet early December, second vet visit (since June), because my skin was all itchy & I was digging all the time & losing hair. Got real bad two or three times & mommy had to put one of those wretched evil plastic cones on me til we got to the vet. Stupid thing made me look like a lamp. BUT... At first we thought maybe it was the flea drops she gave me or the fleas causing dermatitis. Second time back to the vet, & him suggesting some diet & litter changes, I've been fine. I'm feeling A LOT better, like I used to. Turns out I have a red dye allergy, & an allergy to perfumed/dyed litter. So now mommy buys me natural food & litter. She found some that's not too expensive, & works wonders for my allergies. The food is yummy, Purina Naturals. And best of all... MY FAVORITE TEMPTATIONS CAT TREATS DON'T HAVE THE RED DYE!!! So I still get plenty of the Hairball Control ones so I don't hack hairballs up all over mom's floor & bed, cause that's apparently frowned upon in this household but she handles it quite well for a human.

So now that we know I have a red dye & a perfume allergy, I've been doing quite a lot better & feeling like a little hyper kitteh again. Any of you kittehs out there have these allergies?

The hair dryer is evil death.

Mom never used this hair dryer thing until here recently, said she doesn't really like them, but as of late she's used it a couple times. As far as my brother and I are concerned, its evil death. I don't like it. I want nothing to do with it. My brother & I need to devise an evil plan to rid the world of these "hair dryers".
