He can tell time.....starts yowling at exactly 4:30 a.m. every morning
Dewey is new to our household, but I have known him for over a year when he was abandoned at my boarding facility on February 19, 2010 along with two other kitties. The human family was displaced from their rental home by flooding and the home was red-tagged. The three kitties were left at the shelter temporarily. I was still working there as office manager at the time, so I checked on the kitties regularly. They were in tiny cages and were not doing well...hiding under blankets, crouching in litter boxes, not eating, etc. Dewey was old and was having an especially hard time. I felt that he was going to die any day if the owners didn't pick them up soon. I offered to take all three to my boarding facility, Shelby's Eden. The owner was happy, and I gave her an incredibly low boarding rate. She paid me a little bit here and there for the first several months, but I have heard nothing from her now in many many months and she does not return my calls. About 6 weeks ago, I decided to bring Mr Dewey down to the house to live in our household with the other cats and the dogs. He is doing very well and seems happy. He did well in the boarding facility also, but because of his age, I felt that he needed extra TLC. The other two kitties are living in the boarding facility as "permanent guests" and seem to be fine up there.
Dewey reminds me so much of my Angel Shelby. He looks straight into your eyes when spoken to, and he doesn't give affection easily, his trust has to be earned, just like Shelby. Shelby loved the people he knew well very dearly, but was never one to show affection to strangers, although he didn't fear them either, and would never hide from them. It took many months for me to get a purr from Dewey, and now he finally accepts my hands by pushing his head up against them. I am finally winning him over, and he is accepting the love I am offering him. He has no teeth and is not in the best of health. I am planning on taking him for a senior blood panel nest week. Show him some love!

It's been awhile since I've written. I'd been meaning to write and tell you of recent events, but "The Lady" hasn't been able to get over to Catster much. The website gives her computer a lot of problems for some reason. I wanted to say that I had finally come to accept "The Lady" as my new Mom. When she finally accepted that my original Mom was not coming back for me, "The Lady" tried so hard to make me happy and to draw me from my depression. Evenutally, I did give in and "This Lady" became my new Mom. Everyday she brushed me which I loved, and she brought me down from the boarding facility into her home, letting me share her own living space. She came to love me so much. Sadly, I have come to the end of my earthly life, and am scheduled to leave for the Rainbow Bridge at 3:30 this afternoon. Perhaps I will return and visit from the bridge now and then. I've been told that I will stay at the mansion that my fur family owns up there, and that Shelby and the others will be waiting for me to arrive so I won't be alone. Goodbye friends!

So the people that "The Lady" knows came to visit. I was informed by "The Majicou" (who is the fellow that 'The Lady' calls Cous") that the strangers were some sort of Grandma and Uncle. I did my best to ignore them, and they didn't bother me. The man called Uncle apparently loves cats, but I pretended he wasn't there, and it was all good.
"The Lady", and "The Man", had forewarned me about yowling and howling at 4:00 a.m. I did Ok the first night, but after that, I just couldn't help myself. "The Man" mentioned it to me, but "The Lady"....well, she never says anything to me about it. I think she secretly likes it MOL.

Well, the house is in a tither! Vacuuming, and dusting, and other atrocities. The lady said that I will meet my new human Grandmother and Uncle next week. Hummmm, so now I have more strange humans to figure out.
The man told me I'd better not yowl at 4:00 a.m. when the Grandmother is here. He had the nerve to tell the lady that it's like living with a rooster!
I'm an old man, and I was set in my ways. New mother, new house, new fur siblings, dogs, Grandmothers, Uncles......for the time being, until I can sort out all this strangeness, I remain kerfuffled.
