Arrival Story:
One frosty October day, when she was just a tiny kitten, the family who lived next door suddenly moved away, took her mommy and left her all alone. She sat outside the dark and deserted house for many days, crying and hungry, we tried to catch her but couldn't. Then one day she made the most important decision of her life... she walked over to our house and sat outside the patio door. She was the tiniest cat, so hungry and scared. Naturally, we took her in and she has never looked back. Good choice!

Bio:
Molly had a stroke when she was about 2 years old. Luckily, we knew something was very wrong when we saw her stagger and fall to one side. We rushed her to the vet right away and within 20 minutes she was on medication. The vet told us that she was now blind, and may stay that way. After a few days in the vet's care, she returned home and started to learn how to live without sight. The big question was, whether it would be permanent. 2 days later, as I waved a piece of thread in front of her, her paw shot out and caught it! She could see again! She has been just fine ever since, and we love her to bits.

My life, in black and white

Poor, poor pitiful me!

Well, my friends, it's time I went public. I'm not feeling very well. Mom took me to the Vet (trust me, the less said the better on that subject) and it turns out I have something called Hyperthyroidism. Quite a mouthful.. it all started a few months ago because I lost all kinds of weight and I guess I was just moping around the house. I even lost interest in my LOOKS which is just wrong on so many levels (not to boast). Also I started running around the house at night doing something my humans call "yowling". I think it's a pretty cool sound to make but it sure scared them and got me plenty of attention. Well, anyway, now I have to take pills every morning and every night. They are cleverly hidden inside soft cat treats so I usually don't complain too much. But the trouble is, they won't work forever. And trust me when I say, I still have a lot of living to do, so that's not a good thing.

Now for the scary and exciting part! I am going to have a little operation called Radioactive Iodine Therapy. It's a pretty big deal for the humans cuz it's gonna cost a lot. But then when I think about it, it is ME we're talking about here, so it's obviously worth the sacrifice :-) Put it this way: this Christmas, instead of a bunch of silly old presents, the only thing under the tree will be...me! But I refuse to wear those antlers like last time.

I know what you're thinking. This radioactive stuff sounds awful. But I hear through the grapevine that it will cure my condition and it won't make me hurt. I might glow just a teeny bit in the dark for a while, which is why they will keep me in the hospital for a week. I know I will be lonely and probably a little sad until I can come home and resume my duties. Between you and me, I don't think the other cats can keep the household together without me. The upside is, I hear this place I'm going is pretty darn nice and I will have my very own TV to watch. For once I get to see my favorite show without interference! Anderson Cooper, you know who you are..

So, that's my sad and amazing tail! I just hope mom doesn't cry when I go there. I'm getting verklempt just thinking about it, but I will keep my head held high. To all of you I send just one request... please send a good thought my way sometime around Sept. 22nd.

Lots of Love from your Atomic Bombshell....

Well, here I am, in my elegant, crisp black and white. The other cats in this household are nice enough, but lack my sense of style! Some of them are downright dishevelled unless they are willing to be brushed. The only ones who fully appreciate my good looks are my humans (especially the female).

Anyhow, since I am all dolled up, and nowhere to go, I have decided to play the Staring Game. You should try this, it is a good way to find out what your fellow cats are made of. Here's what happens :
MITZI always starts to growl at me when i stare; I usually go away when this happens. Not that i'm scared or anything. She is so cranky!
HOLLY is a nervous-nellie, and sometimes runs away. This is good, because the game then turns into High-Speed Chase, which is what I really wanted in the first place!
CHARLIE is the most frustrating of my siblings. When I stare at him, he yawns and goes to sleep. What up with that? ? Perhaps this is a male characteristic? I have observed that the bearded human sometimes does this when the female tries to get his attention. Hmmmmm. Very curious, indeed!
But hey, let's face it-- when in doubt, I can always look in the mirror and stare at myself (please refer to paragraph one)

Well, I think it's time to go and have a nap. To all my wonderful kitty friends around the world, I say "wish you were here", cuz I would love to stare at you too :-)

Kisses!
Your excellent friend
MOLLY
