Arrival Story:
Well, McCoy found us. He wondered into the right yard! We lost our Maggie last year and didn't plan on adopting another kitty since our 3 boys get along so well and the house was peaceful. We occasionaly feed strays that come around in the neighborhood. Well, McCoy used to hang out by our fish pond (we think he ate a few of our Koi -that's how we named him). He was never afraid of us and would come back to have his head rubbed after every few bites. He was appreciative and very hungry. We thought he might be someone's cat. One night in October 2010, it was cold, windy and raining...he was on our stairs crying on the side of the house. He was soaked. My husband went out to feed him when the storm stopped and he looked a mess. His hair was all matted and he looked so thin. Once he jumped in my husbands lap, that was it...we had to do something. We couldn't bring him inside because we had 3 healthy cats & needed to have him checked first by the vet. Well, we took him the next day to the vet and finally saw him in daylight since he always came around at night. He had fleas, worms and needed to be neutered. That visit alone was over $300. Then we found out over the next few days he had a mouth infection that the next vet said could be calisi virus. His chin was crusted up from the infection, so this poor little guy had his chin shaved by the vet. He didn't even hiss or swat! He looks scary, but he's a big "gentle giant" as the vet called him. Over the next few weeks and multiple vet visits, he was nuetered, given all his shots and finally introduced(very slowly) to his three brothers. Now we are all one big happy family. His coat is shiny, he has gained some weight, and loves to run around the house and play. He's a bit timid still, but that's understandable since someone broke his heart and tossed him outside. He came to the right place because he is now spoiled by us!
