Arrival Story:
Carol brought this ginge-coloured cat from from Orchard Road to Bedok South sometime in December 2004 because he was not eating and he looked depressed. His mood perked up and he soon made himself at home mostly at the school next to Block 31 and in the void deck of Block 31. He is friendly-extreme and hopefully he can be rehomed soon.

More updates on the P C cats.

Once again, the cats are proving their worth.

The other day, I could hear a big wayang coming from the kitchens; two rats were inside. One of the foreign workers who is Gingee’s friend had the presence of mind to get him. Sure enough, within five minutes, both rats were taken care of.

We’ve also been invaded by monkeys (one of which, no kidding, was brandishing what we hope was a toy gun). Mao Squared likes to sleep in a tree in the riding section and when a monkey tried to dislodge him, put up a spectacular fight. The monkey found another tree and Mao was the hero of the day.

Turk continues to do a good job on his side (but the syces call him Jacky).

Unfortunately, no sign of Evita.

Hugs,

Joanna

Gingee continues to be a great favourite with children and- parents.

Turk and Kurt are flourishing. Turk is still afraid of horses – probably not a bad thing – and Kurt has taken to “driving” the tractor.

The gardener is very fond of them and calls Turk Ah Pui (wonder why) and talks to them a lot. The old resident cat, Bags, still occasionally yowls at them but it’s just for effect and they all co-exist. Kurt has taken to venturing out onto the polo field where he can watch what’s going on with the horses. I think they are still making up their minds about ponies. Gingee continues to be a great favourite with children and parents. Children who have problems coping with other children seem to take confidence from him.

And we were able to arrange for a horse who was scheduled to be shot (because it couldn’t play polo any more but was otherwise perfectly fine) to goto an equestrian centre in Langkawi where she can bathe in the ocean etc. I’ve handed the project over to the horse’s current owner and an advocate for Mariposa (because I don’t speak Mandarin) who will make the arrangements for her to go. And the Turf Club willhelp too.

So it canbe done if people are just aware of options and have good hearts.

More later,

J

Gingee aka Gypsy, has taken over the role of Uncle Iman

VoVo is now the darling of the security guards. They have made him a bed inside the hut in case of rain, given him his own chair, and set up a small kitchen to keep him in a steady supply of cooked fish, chicken and top line dry food. Our lady guard, Seraphina, talks to him non-stop and simply adores him.

Gingee aka Gypsy, has taken over the role of Uncle Iman, who was the very dignified man who rang the bells to signify the beginning and end of play (he just passed away). Apparently one of the polo players saw Gypsy sharpening his claws on the polo sign up sheet! And he continues to delight children. The restaurant staff say that most of the kids order the rider’s breakfast – a really big feed – just so they can pass the ham and bacon to Gypsy! He must weigh close to 7 or 8 kg!

Hugs and blessings,

J
