Pinkie is a VERY good mouser
Pinkie's story is the same as her littermate, Weeble...so this story will appear on both of their pages:
Pinkie and Weeble came into our clinic as week old babies who were not being fed by their mother....not the momma's fault, she had horrible, excruciatingly painful mastitis, and was quite ill.
Needless to say, the babies were struggling to live.
I brought them home, and nursed them round the clock, taking them to work with me and keeping them in one of the incubators there.
After a couple of days, both of them "crashed" and were seemingly on their way out. I don't give up so easily, and I continued critical care over the next 4 hours, giving subcutaneous fluid, and syringing a mix of water, kayro syrup, and salt into their mouths. I had them wrapped in heating pads and washcloths to keep their body temps from bottoming out.
Both of them started coming around shortly after, and we suspected that they had probably had a huge fight with the feline herpes virus. Had it have been hypoglycemia, the mixture I was syringing into their mouths would have brought them out of it quickly, however, that wasn't the case.
Both of them pulled through, though the incident seemed to have an effect on Weeble. It took him twice as long to figure out how to eat solid food, and how to drink water from a bowl....but he finally did.
They both live as inside with our "special needs" kitties now.
