Arrival Story:
I had a beagle growing up. When he passed, I always knew that one day I would get another. I wanted to adopt rather than going to a "backyard breeder." I knew exactly what I wanted, but I never seemed to find the right dog. I was delighted to hear that the same rescue group where we adopted Dixie from had four beagle puppies! The puppies, along with their mother Sally, had been dropped off to the shelter soon after the puppies were born. There were three girls and one boy. I was initially interested in Baylee's sister, Savannah, but little Baylee (then named Sahara) curled up in my boyfriend's lap and didn't move a muscle! He surprised me and bought her as an early anniversary gift

Bio:
Baylee is a goofball, and she LOVES to be the center of attention. She howls and pounces at the kitties, they don't understand that she just wants to play. She managed to fracture her leg just two weeks after we got her. Her leg had to be in a hard cast for 4 weeks, but she recovered quickly and never missed a step. She's a tough little girl

Forums Motto:

My Diary

Bad Dog

Christmas was a long, busy, day for my family. Lots of places to go and people to see. My humans stopped by to let us doggies out, then they left to go to their last family dinner of the night. I decided to have a little fun of my own while they were gone. I chewed up mommy's favorite pair of high heels, an eye liner pencil, a new pair of sun glasses, and I got into some mink oil (made for polishing leather boots). I ate the whole 6 oz jar, and boy, did I learn my lesson. Mommy called the E.R. vet, and thankfully, it isn't toxic. 3 days of vomiting and diarrhea (which is how we found out which dog consumed all of this) surely took a toll on me. I feel much better but I'm learning to keep my paws to myself. Sorry Santa, I was a bad dog this year

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene hit the east cost pretty hard this past weekend. We were out of water and electric for two days, but luckily, my family saw no major flooding or damage. I know many folks were not as fortunate as us. I work at a pet resort/boarding facility; seeing the heartbreak in each owner's eyes was devastating. Of course, they were in good hands with us, but I can't imagine the feeling of evacuating my property, and on top of that, not being able to take my babies with me! I'll continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers, I hope the rest of you will do the same

PASSED!

Good news everyone, today was my last day of obedience class. I passed with flying colors. "There's never been a better beagle recall," so the instructor said. I'm sure going to miss all of the wonderful friends I met along the way. Luckily, my bestfriend in the class, Josie, boards at the kennel where mommy works, so I'll still get to see her quite often. I'm excited to announce that I will be signing up for another obedience class soon! It's called Family Dog 1. That is for dogs 1+ years. So I have a couple of months left to wait. I'll be sure to be on my BEST behavior until till then.. hehehe ;)
