I Will Miss Our Big Koi

Our pond was frozen for a long time over the past Winter. It thawed and then froze again. I was sad to see our biggest koi floating after the ice melted. He was a huge fish and about 24" and all white. He had been in our pond since he was just a little baby many years ago. My dad said there was no wounds on him or anything. We have no idea why he went to Rainbow Bridge but we all will sorely miss seeing him in the pond this coming Summer. Maybe the long hard Winter was just too much for him this year. We just have one koi left and the two of them were always together. He is probably very sad that his friend is gone too. My pawrents decided to not have koi in the pond anymore. We have a big problem with herons coming to eat the fish. My mom gets very attached to the koi as they each have their own personalities and all. So each time those big birds come here for lunch, it breaks my mom's heart. We do all we can to protect the fish but sooner or later the bird gets his way. From now on we will just have fantails, comets and shubunkins in the pond. They kind of look alike so it is much harder to tell one from another and get too attached to them. Anyway please keep my big fish in your purrs than he is safe and happy at Rainbow Bridge.

Love,
Louis
