Dad and the Deer

When my dad was on his way home from work for lunch last night (about 8pm) he saw a deer coming out onto the four lane highway. He stopped and it was running then and ran in front of his truck. Just as it crossed the center line, a car was coming toward my dad and the deer ran really hard into the side of the car. :( The people did not even stop. (It could have been a woman alone in the car or something though.) My dad went to turn around to go help the deer as cars were swerving around it and all almost hitting it again. He wanted to at least move it off the road. He stopped and put his flashers on and got out to help the deer with cars whizzing by him. He started to help the deer up and it just kicked him really hard in the leg and took off running back where it came from. He said it looked fine. So I am hoping it just got stunned for a bit after running into the car. He said it was pretty young. I am so glad nobody else hit it! I wonder where the rest of the deer were though and if he'd try to cross that busy road again to find them? I wish the deer would not go near that road and it is amazing more of them don't get hit. They love the wooded lot across from us and go back and forth from that lot to woods across the 4 lane road. Hope my dad's leg isn't too bruised today.
