Arrival Story:
I got Alex from a neighbor who worked at a veterinary clinic. Alex was a "Donor Kitty". He was used as a blood donor and whatever else the clinic needed. I was advised that clinics can only keep "donor cats" for 6 months & then either have to be put down or found a home. Most of the time they are put down due to the fact that they are not usually adoptable after the treatment they've received. The only time he was touched was a painful experience for him. I was told he had a unique personality and if I didn't want to keep him (after trying him out at home), I could return him to her & she would try to find him another home. I got him the day before he was to be euthanized. On the day she brought him to me at my mother's home, he had quite the personality. He quickly found a great hiding place. I finally found him in the bathroom, under the sink, in the cabinet, sitting on top of the pool towels. When I opened the cupboard, I was stunned to hear the screech's & nasty hisses he let out! I had no idea how I was going to get this psycho, wide eyed kitty out of the cupboard to go to his new home. He had no intention of letting me get him out of his hiding spot! Finally, I pulled one towel at a time from the bottom of the pile he was perched atop. With each removal of a towel, there was more hissing, screeching and growling. I was really scared! I finally had enough & said to him "This is IT, you're coming with me!" and I scruffed his neck & pulled him out & quickly plunked him into the carrier. Once I got him into my apt. he slinked around the entire place looking for another hiding spot. That night he slept with me on the bed, purring & a slight contented waive of the tip of his tail. While I was at home he never left my side for 21 years! If I went to the restroom & shut the door, he would sit at the door & meow loudly until I finally opened the door to let him in. He was my shadow literally. He was a very vocal & sensitive kitty. If I were upset and/or crying, he would come and sit on my chest & meow until I stopped. Every time I would get on the computer he would come & sit between myself & the monitor, sometimes being gracious enough to lie down so I could continue my interests on the computer. Whenever the phone would ring or I would dial out he would let me know when my time was up! He again, would cry loudly to the point where I would have to hang up. Many people on the other end of the line & my neighbors thought I had a BABY! He sounded just like a loud crying baby. He was my baby & companion for 21 years! He had the most unique personality. He disliked most males and he and my only (two legged) son had a hate/hate relationship. I think they were both jealous of each other! Alex was also very protective of me and his surroundings. He would never back down from a fight & would be on the attack if he felt threatened. He was a routine kitty. By that I mean he had a routine that he followed. During TV & at bedtime, he always could be found on my stomach, resting peacefully. During my showers, he would sit on my bath towel, warming it up until I got out of the shower. He was a great towel warmer. I have so many stories of my beloved Alex. Too many to write here and now. Alex went to meet his Maker yesterday (Friday) January 14, 2011. I had a vet come to my home so that his last breaths wouldn't be at a place he hated. He passed away in my arms with me telling him how much I loved him & was going to remember, love and miss him forever. RIP my angel, Alex. If it should be.... If it should be that I grow frail and weak, and pain should keep me from my sleep, then you must do what must be done, for we know this last battle can't be won. You will be sad, I understand, but don't let grief then stay your hand, for this day, more than the rest, your love and friendship must stand the test. We've had so many happy years, what is to come can hold no fears. Would you want me to suffer? So, when the time comes, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend, only stay with me until the end, and hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. It is a kindness that you do to me, although my tail it's last has waved, from pain and suffering I have been saved. Do not grieve, it should be you, who must decide this thing to do. We've been so close, we two these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. Author, Unknown

Bio:
I chose Alex to be the Astrological sign of Leo because it fit his personality better than an Aquarius. And as for number of lives he has left should be zero but I don't know how to change it! Also, his weight noted 16 lbs. was at his best. He passed away weighing only 9 lbs.
