March has been quite a month here.
We can start off by saying that we are all pretty sick of the cold and snow. The pawrents would hardly take us out on our leashes at all. Bah!
Then we all had to go to the vet for our booster shots and to take the newest little interloper Owl to get checked out. He was OK, but I was in super stress mode, not wanting the vet to handle me; and Sleeper peed in her carrier on the return trip! Must have been too much commotion that day. Oh, and Fearless has a little abscess on her chin that she had to get antibiotics for. The vet says it’s like an infected blackhead, but the Mama wondered if it wasn’t an injury from her play-fights with Socks – they really do the rough-and-tumble stuff, those two.
Middle of the month the Mama’s laptop went blooey! Don’t know what caused it, but the end result was that the fix wiped it COMPLETELY clean – like a newborn babe. EVERYTHING has to be reinstalled. The good thing is that most everything of importance had been recently backed up. Important point: If it means anything to you - BACK IT UP! There are lots of memory storage devices these days that don’t cost much – well worth the investment.
Then it was time to start the garden – under lights, of course. This is done in stages and it looks like there won’t be any early work outside like there was last year – too bad. But things will grow fine in their cups under lights for awhile.
A sad note: we received word of the passing of Da Tabbies o Trout Town’s Sauce. He was only 10. I know many of you miss Da Tabbies, too, and would want to know if you didn’t already.
Good news: Blizzard reports that Kitty came through her surgery fine – yea!!! And other good news: my bestest bud Zach is CAT OF THE WEEK following another of our very favorite kitties: Tink !!!
Bad news: due to fleas, I am unable to make any comments about these events on any cat’s page – anyone else having this problem?
Two more things: Owl has just joined the Seedless Grape Society. Yep – he went in for neutering yesterday, plus they finished up his other shots. He was running around like a happy crazy kit yesterday after he got back, but today he’s pretty laid back. The Mama says it’s the shots more than the surgery. She’s noticed we all seem to react more on the second day.
Last - Mr. Ugly Face, the most humongous, ugliest and meanest of the possums has been relocated! Hurrah! It happened like this: he came on the porch to eat the Feral’s food like usual, and the Mama shooed him away. This time, instead of going in one of the nice shelters, he climbed into one of the loose cardboard boxes that’s sitting on top. While Socks and Seven Point One guarded the front, the Mama ran in and got a piece of cardboard and some duct tape and closed the sucker in there!!! Then she grabbed the whole box and put it in the trunk and drove several miles to the public hunting grounds and let him loose. She wished him a happy life as he waddled away. She was a little worried about him finding food when there’s still snow on the ground. But she reminded herself that not only is the snow melting off, but that guy is super fat from eating all the catfood he’s been chowing down on for months! He can make it on body fat for awhile.
So – how was your month?
Well, I was COTW for two weeks and now it's Zach, read the first of my latest diaries to see what the Catster problems were. It is supposed to be resolved now.
Snow still blushes at the mention of the name "Fearless" and I've done an amateur analysis(via WebMD) and have diagnosed him with MPD(sad, but true) Multiple Personality Disorder. Good Snow and Bad Snow, White Snow and dirty, ashy BLACK SNOW!!! He is either super-sweet or a holy terror!!!
Lately he climbs up and paws mommy to get her to throw the ball so he can fetch it. He is a CRAZY fetcher of superballs!! Eventually he bites them in half and they DIE!
We are looking out the window to see if any STUPID BURDS are out there. Too Winter!!! The extended forecast says spring is coming in about two weeks - YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!
We are so shocked and sorry to hear about Sauce. We hope Tuna gets a lot of extra attention during the adjustment. WE LOVE YOU GUYS STILL & MISS YOU, TABBIES(Dere Be 5 O'Them)!!!
That's the story from here, but we also wrote a special poem for Timmy Tomcat on Sunday, so check out his diary, 1133152, to see the photos he posted and the poem, "The Legend of Timmy Tomcat" in the same place.
Love to All, especially the ferals!! Tink
We don't really like to discuss the weather with our furiends who live in the colder parts of the country, because let's be honest, Catifornia weather is pretty pawsome, it's nearly purrfect, especially where we live, and we never complain about it because we know we have it so good here with all the sunshine.
We do have other problems though like traffic, crowds, pockets of crime, etc, but it doesn't affect us cats since we stay in the house most of the time. It does get on Mom's nerves, especially the traffic.
We think it's great that Zach is COTW, and were happy to see Tink get that honor as well. Did you see Zach's video he posted in his diary? That one made us MOL. He's a hoot, that Zach.
Our catnip plants are getting really big and I like to go out on the back catio most days and take a little nip break.
We love and miss the Tabbies, too, and were sad to hear about Sauce. A couple other furiends went to the Bridge recently, and it's always sad for us when that happens. Some of our friends are like family to us.
Nice meowing with you Samhain ~ I look forward to seeing pics of your spring garden!
Usually our weather is nice and warm by now here in Texas, but it has been in da 50s da last few days. Which I know are not really dat bad, but it's not dat good wither.
That was a good Caturday story and poem, Tinkerella! We're happy we can post again, too. Now if HQ will just straighten out my zealies so I can use them...
Tully, the Mama knows all about how heavenly CA can be this time of year. And the camellias are probably blooming - sigh...
Jezzie, 50's sounds pretty heavenly, too, about now.
Hmmm Our March? It went fast. I think we saw all the seasons. It was cold, it was warm, flowers bloomed and then snow fell. The month started out slow, but got crazy now. Mom got accepted into graduate school and grammy had a stroke. Yikes! Grammy is doing better, she is much more alert and talking. She does have alot of weakness on her right side though, hopefully rehab will get some function back.
Sorry to hear you all had to go to the vet--yuck! But your momma just wants what is best for ya.
We hear ya Jezebel, Texas didn't get the memo that it's March. Central Tx was 90 on March 18th, then the next week it almost frosted at night! W.T.M?
Skylar, so good to hear there is marked improvement. We will keep sending purrayers.
Skyster, I hope Grammy is out of hospital and into rehab. Rehab isn't necessarily pleasant either, I know, but it's a step in the right direction.
Big congrats on getting into graduate school - what is your Mom's focus?
Hope everyfur's Easter is calm and peaceful, and that we all have bright sunny days to lift our spirits!
Grammy is still in the hospital. They had to give her a feeding tube this morning because she failed her swallow test. Hopefully she will be going to rehab on Monday. They are giving her some therapy in the room, but we wish it was more. Mom is going to school for Library Science. She is going to go Clarion, she can get the state tuition rate for PA and do it entirely online.
Sky - sorry that Grammy is still in the hospital. We send our purrs that she can get out on Monday. Unfortunately, there's no rushing the healing process - it happens at its own pace.
That sounds like a wonderful thing that your Mom can go to school online - one of the true marvels of this computer age. Though the Mama has been in partnership in her own business for almost 30 years now, she never got a college degree, and considered this online process herself sometime back, but realized she'd passed the age where it mattered to her!:) She's more interested in retiring now, and throwing herself back into gardening and cat-farming - MOL!
