Well, this was a double special tonight. I’d say it was their own fault, but actually it’s just that tomorrow is the mobile spay clinic day. Well, not JUST that.
See, while the Mama was walking me in the garden, the Papa had Sleeper. We heard the screeches; the Mama wasn’t sure if there was a serious problem, and cut the walk short – dang it! Turns out it was that nasty Marble-cat and Littleboy going at it. And after the Papa broke them up, Marble hissed at the Sleep who still stood at the Papa’s side, naturally, and made a lunge for her! Well – she freaked, of course! But the Papa kept her safe.
So the Papa set up the trap with some sardines and put it on the porch where Marble was now waiting for his dinner. It was done in minutes. He was NOT happy, but the deed will be accomplished tomorrow morning for everyone’s good. And while they’re at it, they’ll give him another shot of antibiotics, which can’t hurt – even though his eye seems healed now.
Once his cage was moved and covered with a dark blanket, the Papa set up the second trap, hoping we might catch the other un-neutered male, Aunt Bobbie’s look-alike, who was hanging out on the porch. No luck. He wouldn’t go in the trap; just came up and ate some more dry food on the porch and sauntered off. But they left the trap up just in case. Sure enough, we all heard the snap as it went off and the occupant went crazy. Except it wasn’t Aunt Bobbie’s brother, it was Star!!!
And tomorrow the two baddest boys of the neighborhood will join what Blizzie calls the Seedless Grape Society! Too bad it couldn’t have been a little sooner, since our neighbors across the road say they’ve got 4 more kittens. Sigh. In another month or two they’ll be taking them in for spaying as well, I guess…
Double sigh it sure is hard to stop the growth of a kitty colony but your moma and pappa are doing pawsome work, high paws to them! Star and marble will be seedles and or course they will be without marbles MOL and there are many girl cats that will be glad to give up mother hood.
your family is definitely doing their part to help those poor kitties who don't have furmilies to take care of them. big hugs to you, i am honored to be your friend. kisses Anna

Hooray for the Seedless Grape Society! I've been a member for years. Good job by the Mama and the Papa!
Good job by your pawrents!
Big surprise for the pawrents - Star is a GIRL!!! Well, of course, WE knew, but we never told them. Anyway, they never got close enough, did they? And Star was like the feralest of the ferals, if you get what I'm saying? She is like really standoff-ish and super crafty. They'd been trying to trap her for months. And guess what else? As soon as that Marble cat got out of his carrier, he was like "where's lunch?!" The Mama gave him 2 bowls of food, and then said, "No more till you can walk to the porch and get it yourself!" She didn't want him to overeat and upchuck it all again. Star, meanwhile, was like GONE IN 60 SECONDS. But she'll be back for dinner I bet. :)
Oh, and the neighbors had another female they sent in with our two, so the count is up to 22. Plus the vet sent home three carriers as a loaner for when those kittens get big enough to bring in with their Mama. Got to be at least 2 lbs is what they say.
The Mama and Papa are getting really good at this! Great job by them. It seems endless but they are sure making progress.
Round of apaws for them both!!
Off with he Grapes!
Was kinda wishing we'd see the two at dinner, but no show. However, the neighbor's cat that was taken today DID show up. Maybe the other two are across the street?
Hi Samhain! Very cool of your parents to do that. I'm also a proud member of Seedless Grape Society. We are a friendly bunch. It's the opposite of Fight Club.
Yeah, well, Toki - I wish you'd tell Marble that. This morning I found out one of the possible reasons that Rickie is so mean when Marble is around. He'd already eaten and was sitting up on the strawbale wall when she arrived for breakfast. He didn't even let her get close - he chased her right up the pine tree! The Mama went out with a plate of food in one hand and a spray bottle in the other. He may be a scrappy fighter, but he backed down from the Mama's spray bottle! Then Rickie came down and ate, seeming a little friendlier to the Mama for coming to her rescue. Still haven't seen Star, but then she was the most feral. Hopefully she's OK.
(off with his grapes...hehehe...)
I'm thinking the feral tomcats won't want to take advice from a male model ;) hehe
