A TALE OF TWO KITTIES

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness… it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…” Oh – hang, Sleeper! Is this the best literary intro you could come up with? The silly human couldn’t make up his mind!

Well, I know what it was – it was the WORST of times, and we had NOTHING before us, ‘cause the Mama was seriously PO’d at us for waking her at 4AM, playing with a bunch of stuff on a bathroom shelf that we had previously never paid any attention to. The Papa was amused, standing back before her wrath, only offering to get her one of the white book boxes, into which she swept the entire contents of the shelf and threw the whole thing into the computer/book room.

At present we are banned from the computer/book room because it is, for now, also the plant nursery (pic posted). The Mama says we can’t go in there for at least 3 more weeks, because it will be that long before the veggie plants are big enough, and the unheated greenhouse is assured to be warm enough for them to be able to handle the move. Most things won’t actually get planted outside for another month or more.

In the meantime, we have NOTHING to play with. Well, OK, we’ve got our mousies, and our other little catnip stuffed toys, and our balls, and our little tower, and our box fort, and one of the Mama’s foam curlers, and, of course, we’ve got each other, but we’ve played with all those things lots of times! And besides, I can’t stand the Mama to be unhappy, so that’s why I’m curled up and purring in her lap while she’s types this for me.

“It was the best of times…”

You sound just like a schoolchild in August!!! You wanna do SOMETHING, you just don't know WHAT, right? Just give yourself a few minutes to breathe and regroup, then some spook-sound will distract you!
Imagine your old toys have all changed purrsonalities with each other, then maybe they'll seem like new challenges!! Try it - it works! Luv, Tink

Actually, Finnegan has explained it to me - the moon is full or will be tonight, according to Mama's calculations, and it's in Libra, and we're Libra cats - so there you have it. We're experiencing lunacy! MOL
However, we will now try to see our toys with all new eyes - Mama might help by rolling them in some catnip, too!

Heeheehee- my mom is trying to picture all the trouble I would get into if I had a partner in crime like you do! (someday I will, but she can't right now.) Your parents could try re-vamping your toys. I love it when my mom ties the furry rattling mice to a wand/pole with thin elastic. When mom drags the mouse along the ground and I pounce on it, the elastic makes it bounce away! It's also fun when mom cuts little mouse holes in a cardboard box for me to hide in. Then she drags the mouse toy by the mouse hole and I shoot my paw out and grab it! I need to post pics, it's a silly game, but really funny.

Wow! Are our Mamas on the same wavelength, or what? What she did was build a fort out of cardboard boxes with various exits around it, and a blanket thrown over the whole thing, kind of like what her Mama would build for her when she was a young girl and it was a rainy day. Except she also cut a hole just big enough in the end of one of the cardboard boxes so Sleeper and I could crawl in that way, too! We love it! And the Papa made a dangling mouse for us that hangs from the nails in the beam that bisects the kitchen area from the living area. We live in an old farmhouse, so parts are these rustic old wood beams. Mama used to hang herbs for drying from those nails, but she doesn't do it so much now. Anyway, the mouse is tied to the end of these really stretchy boot laces that are tied together to make one long cord. When we grab that sucker it goes swinging wa-a-a-y up in the air! They don't put it up, though, unless they're here to watch us - I think they think we're likely to strangle ourselves or something!!! Worryworts...
