We've been talking about the Mama's sunflower house for awhile now, but thought we'd wait till it was complete before we posted the pics. The Mama has documented it's growth since day one, but has narrowed the viewing selection down to 11 pics out of 250 gazillion - MOL! I won't say much more except that she's decided to do this again next year to improve on some of the things she could have done better. Like having the door on the south side of the house instead of the west, so that when she takes pics, the flowers AND the front of the House are actually facing the camera! Anyway, here we go!
#1 - the beginning
#2 - sunflowers coming up!
#3 - scarlet runner beans blooming now
#4 - Little Mama: "The cat who walked through walls"
#5 - Little green frog comes to see the House
#6 - Humming bird comes to sip from the scarlet runner beans
#7 - Some of the different colored sunflowers
#8 - The Heavenly Blue morning glory and a pink volunteer
#9 - sunflower and a yellow bee
#10 - The door to the Sunflower House
#11 - the Sunflower House complete except for the morning glories
Beautiful thanks for sharing we loved looking at it. You live in a beautiful area where kitties can feel safe outside love it
That's beautiful! You live in a magical land and your momma knows what to do with it! ...wow, you actually succeeded in making my mom miss the north...
It is beautiful here, even in the winter. But the gardening season is short - about 3 -1/2 months if you're lucky. However, we feel very fortunate to have this space to roam.

OMC it is GLORIOUS!! totally awesome Sleeper, thanks so much for sharing. what a wonderful idea, mom loves sunflowers so she might just try to make a house in our yard too.
Thank you, Anna! The Mama had a lot of fun with it, and plans to do it again next year and see if she can't improve on it. Thank you for the ladybug, too. She and Bob are presently enjoying a cup of cocoa in the greenhouse, though, since we had first frost this morning. It was a light, not a hard, frost - so there will be some things still in the garden, but that marks the official End of the Season!
Oh, I love your sunflower house!! What a great idea :) Will your mommy save the seeds for next year?
Oh, Sleep! The sunflower house is as beautiful as you are! We enjoyed these pictures so much! I wish there was enough sun in our yard to make one. We would love to see all the visitors.
Purrs, Tiger and Tiny
That is a beautiful sunflower house. We also enjoyed the pictures,
Frost?!?! I wonder if we'll get one of those this year - MOL! It's a funny irony of nature that things grow so much better and prettier up north, but you only have 1/3 of the time to enjoy it... It was so beautiful. Mom and I can't wait to see "The Sunflower House Version 2.0"
Lily - yes, the Mama has already harvested some seed, though she will probably buy some other varieties for next year as well.
Tiger - thank you, my sweet. The visitors were fun to see!
Midnight - thank you - glad you liked the pics!
Calista - yep - frost! Yes, it's true about the beauty and the lack of time to enjoy it. :) Next year...
Wow! How lovely that was to see! Did you and your furblings get to go in there?
We loved the time lapse pictures!
Concats on being a DDP, Sleeper!
I hope the frost didn't devastate the whole thing. We got down to about 35 here, not quite frost but plenty chilly...
Yes, we all were in there at one point or another, though the Mama didn't get many good pics from it so she didn't include them. Don't know for sure how things look now, as the Mama only went out long enough to see if there was frost - it was patchy. She'll go out later this morning to see how extensive the damage is. The sunflower house is pretty much done, though, with the flower heads gone to seed. The chickadees are holding their annual family reunion there now. :)
Wow...your sunflower house is so beautiful. And so many wonderful little visitors. Our mom says she would like to go inside herself & lie down with all of us kitties to watch the critters and smell the outdoors. Guess it's about gone for you all until next year, with colder weather coming on. We look forward to seeing your new sunflower house next year!
Thanks, Raj. Actually, we've only had the one light frost which didn't even kill the tomato plants, which are still producing fruit. The weather couldn't have been lovelier today!
Totally beautiful! I could smell the flowers, the earth, hear the bees and birds buzzing . . . how luscious to curl up in the sunflower house and take a nap in the sun puddles . . .
