CAT OF THE DAY!February 3rd 2013 5:49 pm[ View A Comments (12) ]
Wow! This was certainly a big surprise! Here we are in the frozen northlands, afraid to spend too much time close to the woodstove because of that creature in the kitchen…but I’m getting ahead of myself. More about that in a minute.
Concats to you on this honor, Sleeper! That wee kitten sounds like he appawsiates being warm & cozy right now, even if he has to stay in a condo fur now...Hope he does well. Did he get a name? If so that means he might stay...just saying, MOL! Purrs! Stay warm!! Well...they're calling him Owl - cause of the eyes; they look too big for his face! And he does get to roam outside of the condo part of the time, but the Mama has to watch him to keep him out of trouble, and to make sure he doesn't eat our food. He is so frantic for food, I guess because of whatever his past history is, that he doesn't know enough to stop eating when he gets full. Concats Sleeper! Way to go! It is so cool to see you and Blizz there on the homepage. Your Mama is so sweet and kind, taking care of the ferals and now this little guy. Isn't that sad...about the food? Poor thing, it will likely be a long time before he knows that he won't have to eat like there will never be more... Owl is a cute name, isn't there a song about the Owl and the Pussycat? In a boat or something like that. He could be your: Owl on the Prowl, Watch out... He might sit on your towel, or if he's sad he might yowl! The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea In a beautiful pea green boat, They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five pound note. That is all I can remember.... Oh, Wow, That's a cool ditty! Wonder what they did with the $$, MOL! We are so glad this kitty is in a better place, it's too bad the last owners were so irresponsible... We're happy he's safe with you guys. Hopefully you can help him get healthy again and find him a nice home. :) Congrats on being COTD! WeeBees, I thank they bought a lamp in Italy. Mol. Sleep, the Diamond was from all of us. We adore your grumpy butt. Also be nice to the kit, he's lost his home. Mom has new pics of us too and is also waiting for the fleas to go away. First let me say thanks to Novi and Ingen for the trophy! And Beepers and family for the rose, Bondi, Felix Mendelssohn and family for the shrimp, and Skylar and family for the shining diamond! Wow, everyfur - I am touched that so many honored me on my special day. Makes me feel better when I was feeling insecure about my place in the household. You know - when the pawrents are taking in every stray tom, Socks, and Owl! MOL! WBS - we were remembering that Fearless was a little like this about food when she first came in; if one of us left any food in her bowl, Fearless would be over there in a flash. But Owl is much more INTENSE about it. This morning was the first morning that he's acted like he'd had enough. As I said, the Mama has been very careful, only feeding him small dollops several times a day. She hasn't been to the shop since he arrived; no biggie - with it's being this cold, business is manageable with just the Papa there. Though he did get a nice pre-Superbowl rush yesterday! :) Sleeper, you remember that part in Sixteen Candles where Ducky said do offend and then sniffs his armpits? Well did I offend you with the grumpy butt comment? Just going off of what Sammie says about you. Mom says she has taken in a couple strays. (Diamond had a home when they got her but Mom believes the lady couldn't feed her like she wanted to thus she gave us Di) So Zoe, Di, Meha' and Blackie were all strays and everyone of them ate and ate and ate when she first brought them in. Mom has always said its like they don't know when they will get their next meal. And it takes a while for them to realize they don't have to worry anymore. That is one lucky little kit. Can you adopt him out? PS- as you know I grew up out in the country and for years people used to dump pregnant cats out at the barns all the time. We had one female that had not one but two litters! Somehow we gave every single one of those kits away except for Ledford Which we kept for ourselves. Turns out he had FIV. If I remember correctly he lived with us for 10 years. That inspires me to write a diary. Zachie, you know I'm not really mad at you, don't you? I just like to tease you since you are such a tease yourself - MOL! We'll have to read your diary, but maybe not tonight... |
