Sometimes love may be disguised,
in flippant tail movements and flickering eyes

In life, we fall, often in the wrong places,
Heartache and longing, fighting to reconnect with distant traces.
Lovers lost and gone,
feelings staining months extended.
Can we know where to find great love?
Not in the arms of the one who makes you cry.

Past times lead us to believe we are now without,
he holds the hand of one, another left riddled with confusion and doubt.
Memories do not fade but become skewed,
Overbearing tales of days past delude.

During the journey, another tale divulged,
one that begins in a town far away,
a place previously unvisited,
with a mysterious way.
A tiny, sweet-whiskered friend, sitting silently with siblings,
Signified an abundance of life lessons beginning.

To him, the world is glorious,
the trees flailing in the wind bring constant amazement.
The night sky alight with blurs and whirs,
the early morning sunrise and the call of the morning birds.
He stretches, long, from his tails to his paws,
Taking in the world with one glorified pause.

To him, joy is not a concept, but an essential component of life
He effortlessly finds happiness in the smallest of things,
oftentimes dreaming of butterfly wings, fluttering about the sky of a day
His stare, engaging, his eyes so kind
He comforts me with, a love undying and blind.

My cat may not be a man who can protect me from evils and hold me tight,
but my boy can love me with something as small,
as hearing me come home and bounding down a hall,
a soft purr and a sweet meow
Cuddled up besides me, following me with his sparkling eyes.

My cat is here with me right now,
Sleepily watching me write these words,
he reaches out his paw and places it on my hand,
To me, he says "I love you too"
