Zoes secret dreams made public
New Plants and GeenPawsFebruary 24th 2013 1:48 pm[ View A Comments (13) ]
Don't know if you guys know but we are plant nuts around here. Mom moved new plants into Zach's bedroom and closed the door. It's been killing Gris, he so wants to get in there. Personally, I want to see the new blooms myself.
Oh, the Mama is so-o-o-o-o envious!!! What a beautiful canna! Love that orange. We still have inches of snow on the ground up here. It's a long way till planting outside time. However, around the middle of March she will start some of her flower seeds inside under the lights. The veggies will come later. Looking forward to it!!! It's too cold for the Tropicals to be planted (got to get them in the aunts sun room) but the Hellebores were planted this afternoon. Have you ever smelt a Ginger Lily.....heaven and the flowers are a faint yellow color! And Orangie is stunning! Both of them are going to be put out by the pool at grandmas. Today is the first warm day we have had in awhile. But the ground is sooooo soggy! What pretty plants! Our mom likes to grow vegetables and stuff. We have a few blueberry bushes, too, and lavender. Lots of lavender. Guess there be lots of stressed peeplz around here or something. Dad just bought her this really cool inside plant thingee with a clear plastic zipper cover for starting her plants and there be little tomato, zucchini, and cucumber plants poking up already. She says she's growing catnip, too, but I sure can't smell that. None of it is as pretty as your plants! Mom every year says she's going to grow veggies but never does. She really should since she's a vegetarian 6 days out of the week. It's a health thing not an animal thing. Mom says she could never go 7 days without a real breakfast...resistance is futile. I guess we should at least try to grow something to eat this year. Anybody know about growing spaghetti squash? Miranda, you should join our group during the growing season and share your pictures and growing tips. Very pretty! I love that orange lily. We have some plants around our house and we do a veggie garden too (tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini, kohlarabi, parsley, and sometimes peppers. We also have grapes which are yummy in the fall. Guys the orangie is called "Orange Punch" and yes, you can have one in Mich. indoors cause cannas are non toxic to cats and dogs. And it only gets 4 ft tall same as a rubber tree. It's 20 bucks for a 2 gallon specimen at Plants Delight. Skit, hate to repeat myself but it would be nice if you guys join too. Your our buddies, we want you there. Skylar and I just joined, thank you for reminding me. beautiful plants my BFF mom has a black thumb as opposed to a green one MOL and she has no clue which plants are toxic to us and which ones are safe for us so all our plants here at home are plastic. :) we are going yo make a bigger effort to visit the group more often Pawsome pics! We've got some daffodils coming up - need to take some pictures! Calie, all it takes is a little research, asking friends and patience. Mom's very first plant was a half dead clearance rose bush. She was determined to make it healthy, and guess what, not only did it survive but it looks great 3 years later. About the poisonous questions, there is always, links on the GreenPaws page. Mom usually just does a Internet search. Trust me, you will never know all of them off the top of your head. Just like our new treasures, lilies usually are to toxic but not these two arent BUT the elephant ears are. I started the 2013 thread but no pics are up yet. I'll try to get them up today. Jez, you guys have the best garden pictures... Can't wait to see them!!!! Oh how beautiful! We love plants too! Great pictures. Like a breath of spring. Our yard is all mud and dirty snow and brown plants. Yuck. We're pretty soggy too. |
