Tabby and White
me and my male human person
don't know yet
he does not seem to know how to play
Favorite Nap Spot:
either on my lap or as high as he can get.....I think both places equal 'safety'
at the moment his favourite food is more or less anything.....he has been without food and knows the value of anything that is edible.....!!!
he knows how to capture my heart
I have been yearning for a new cat to help ease the loss of Grandad Conrad in August 2009, but we felt that it would be irresponsible of us to get another cat as we are both old age pensioners and rather poor. I tried fostering, but that ended disastrously, with me in floods of tears when the little kittens had to go to their new homes. I was still determined that we would not get another cat.
At the beginning of this month (December 2010) my neighbour made me aware that a stray cat was living in their garage. She also told me that there would be building work done on their garage very soon. The weather at the beginning of December was terrible - snow, ice, freezing fog.....my husband and I both knew that we could not leave the stray to starve or freeze to death. I borrowed a cat-trap from the local vet practice and left it outside our back door each day for some hours (popping out to look if he had been caught). He went into the trap a couple of times (we saw him do so), but he did not trigger it and came out again....!!! We also, during the worst of the weather, went down to the neighbour's garage four times a day to take food and to call for the stray.....
I suffered every evening.....we were all in and warm and safe and he was out in the cold, lonely.....also in the mornings I would wake up and think 'has he lived through the freezing night?' It was horrible and frustrating....and we kept putting food in the neighbour's garage and calling to the stray.....we rarely saw him or heard him.....indeed, I did not really know what he looked like.
He has been living around here for two or three years, I think....but I always thought he belonged to someone and took little notice of him...except, I was aware that he was a friend of Tambolina's and also that one time (have to admit it) I chased him out of our garden because he was frightening Colin (just by being there)....!!!
Anyway, after a lot of heartache and worry, we eventually caught him in the trap.....on the very day that the work was started on next-door's garage.....!!!
The furthest we had thought was just to try to get him in the warm, away from the terrible weather. Well, we got him, and then did not know what to do with him....!!
How do you think it ended? Of course, we want to keep him. I am now in the process of trying to get the other cats to accept him, then, when the terrible weather has passed we will let him out and HOPE that he will want to return.....
