Arrival Story:
I have always lived around cats, and had been wanting to adopt one since me and my boyfriend moved away from our parents and got our own place. (Three years.) We were finally in a situation where we could bring a kitty companion into our home and, since we already had a dog and my boyfriend wasn't a big cat person, I started searching local rescues for an adult cat between 1 and 4 years old that wasn't afraid of dogs and was calm. To save space, a big chunk of this is missing, but long story short, I ended up volunteering for a small local cat rescue. She forwarded me an e-mail from a lady (who's son is a vet) who was trying to find a home for two kittens she rescued off of someone's front porch. They were in bad shape, and Lynch had to have his eyes removed. Nova ended up partially blind in one eye. They were not siblings, but had been together since they were very young, and they relied on eachother for different things, so they had to be adopted together. I had only planned on having ONE cat, and had planned on adopting an adult. But after discussing it with my boyfriend, and showing their pictures, neither one of us could say no!

What is Christmas?

Lately, my mom has been spending a lot of time in her bedroom. She will come out multiple times a day to take care of us, and to take my best doggy friend, Toby, outside, or to eat. Then she will disappear behind the moving wall, again. I hear strange music eminating from inside there. A lot of it mentions something called, "Christmas." I have also heard my people talking about this "Christmas" and my mom said that she is in the bedroom making Christmas gifts.

A week or so is when I first noticed the strangeness. My sisfur, Nova, told me that they were hanging these sock-like things on the wall! I've never heard of such a thing! I have also noticed that the temperature in the house is a little colder at night than it has been. So, what exactly is going on?

I heard my people say that one of those socks they hung on the wall is for us. I don't understand this. Why did they hang it so high that we cannot reach it if it's for us? Nova said that Toby has a sock, too, and that his has his name on it. She says that he doesn't play with his, either.

At least mom is nice, and takes into consideration that I can't see. Nova tries to describe the decorations and the pretty lights to me, but I can only imagine that. Mom included me in the joy of Christmas decorating by letting me smell these wax things that she called "candles." The Gingerbread one was too strong for my little nose, but I did enjoy smelling the Holly candle. I'm glad that she can figure out ways for me to enjoy things, too.

Mom said that Christmas is in just a few days, and that she is almost done with the gifts. So, what is this "Christmas" that is being talked about everywhere? Mom says I will know, soon. She also says that I will be very happy, and that she has something for me and Nova. Well, I can't wait to see what these things are! But I will also be very glad to have her back out here with me, and not in there working on "gifts!"
