Wow, ages since Mom helped me write an entry!!! Not much has changed around here...wait a minute, LOTS has changed around here.
First of all, that Jimmy, the "kennel" cat, decided to help himself to some dog food over at work. Of course, he chose the largest bags of the most expensive food, and he kept opening bags until he found one to his liking. Because of the way the store and kennel are set up he can't be shut out of the store so he is currently HERE in our house, bugging ME!!
I must admit, I don't much like him so I find it hard not to grab his tail or his toes as I march by... he is so cute when he is angry, hehehe! He's a little dense so he hasn't gotten the message that I don't like him yet.
But, Moms little golden toy poodle boy, Beanie, is really cruisin' for a bruisin'!! Every single time I go after Jimmy, he rushes either me or Jimmy. Of course if Mom is watching he stops and sniffs me gently, but if she is in the other room, he is actually trying to BITE ME!! We'll see about that, MOL! Remember, he was the one who was always chasing Joey! BTW, you should see poor Beanie go insane when Joey parks himself up on the porch railing and starts grooming himself. Beanie can hardly stand it, hehehe!
Speaking of Joey and the great outdoors, I have been doing alright for myself out there exploring, much to Mom's chagrin. I act all innocent and sidle my way outside to the Summer kitchen. Then, of course, she forgets I'm out there and just barges right in the door, whereby I zoom right out! Fortunately, the porch gate squeeks so I always know when she is coming.
She has been chasing me around and I have slipped and fallen for the canned food in the Summer Kitchen a few times. The other day she just laughed when I ran out. I soon knew why... I zoomed right out into a 6 inch deep puddle and pouring rain. I zipped under the car and Mom went inside and left me there. Of course, I went to the window and meowed for her to let me in. When I got inside I shook water all over her clean floors, that will teach her to let me out in the pouring rain, MOL!
Since then, I have remained inside and watched thru the window as Joey and the wild cat cavort in the fresh green grass, but since tomorrow is Mother's day, I may try again then.

Here we go again. Yesterday my little breath of fresh air only served to remind how wonderful that outdoors really is!!!
So, earlier this afternoon, I surprised Mom by zipping out the front door when she came in from a trip uptown. Yeah, she DID have her arms full, but that's not my problem!!!
I zoomed over behind her car and rolled around in the dust in the driveway whilst she brought in the rest of the stuff. I could FEEL her eyeball burning into the back of my head so I was planning my next few moves very carefully. I watched her put the kittens in the house (they were in the Summer kitchen), then she blocked the front door open and left the porch door open, too.
Next, she started following me. I moised over to the front of the house near the road and she was screaming at me. Suddenly, an HUGE motorcycle roared by and scared me so I zipped up the tree. Wow, it is REALLY scary up a tree so I immediately came back down and headed down behind the house.
The dogs were barking so I knew it wasn't too smart to hop over that fence... I went back over to the porch and went under to visit with Joey and the gray cat. Meanwhile, Momsie went into the house and got a can of food and made a big deal (and lots of noise) opening it and putting it in the Summer kitchen. Too bad I wasn't hungry!
Since Joey and the gray cat were down in the shed and not under the porch, I decided to head that way. I stopped and jumped up onto the Summer kitchen window and thumbed my nose at Mom, then continued along.
Mom was following me in earnest now, and I didn't dare slow down and go into the shed, I kept going and ended up in the garden down there. I have NEVER been down there before and wasn't sure where to go next so I slowed down and let Mom grab me. All in all, I did have a nice little walk for myself!!!
But, she didn't learn and I did learn. Not an hour later, Mom went out to get Toto to come inside and left that door to the dog yard open just a bit too long. Free again!!!
This time I headed right to the gate that goes down into the big yard, but it was locked tight. Next, I heard Mom tell Toto to "fetch him up". OMC... that is NOT GOOD!!! I immediately stopped and allowed Mom to catch me once again.
Whew, now I am VERY tired and napping on one of the dog beds. If the whole Summer is as easy as today was, I could be getting LOTS of fresh air and sunshine!!!

I have been soooo good all Winter. I haven't even LOOKED out the doors, much less tried to sneak out. Frankly, I don't really like cold and snow and I hate when my feet get wet!
Well, Spring is now here, the grass is riz, the birds are singing and the flowers are blooming. In other words, it is NICE outside. I needed to start planning my escape.
Tonight I finally managed to pull it off. Momsie has been getting pretty lax about making sure the doors are shut and all that stuff. However, tonight she was letting the dogs outside and she held that kitchen door open a bit too long. I was standing right there between Harvey and Barney, she must have thought I was Zena and she gestured us right out, so, of course, I zoomed out!!
There were a few problems. The first was that Mom was standing right there on the porch so I had to jump off the side, which put me right between the wall and the Frenchie pen. I started walking over to the end fence, I didn't DARE run cuz I KNEW Mom would be alerted if I did that. I just sort of mosied along, to use Beanie's favorite word. Well, Mom has a sore hip and I could see her thinking about it...was it worth hurting her hip to step way down the side OR did she have time to walk to the end and go down the low step??? She chose the low step since I was just sauntering along. (Another Beanie word, MOL)
Hmmm, I guess I was moving a bit too slow...I ended up with Mom right in front of me!!! She reached down, I looked up, and I LET HER PICK ME UP!!!
There were two issues here... first of all, Momsie suddenly realized I was moving VERY slowly now that I am no longer a kitten, but, (more of an issue) Momsie realized that I am now VERY, VERY PUDGY!!!!! I now suspect I will be joining Beanie in his diet!!! I do not think cutting my hair off like she did with Beanie will make much difference. Unlike Beanie, she may find that I am really MORE pudgy underneath all this hair, MOL!!!
The other issue was that I was also surrounded by DOGS! While those dogs ARE my friends, I was watching out the window the other day when that poor chicken stumbled into their pen. I now KNOW what they can do and I, quite frankly, did not want to take any chances!
I survived and will try again one of these days!!
