Brown Tabby

Looking quizically at everything and cracking goofy smiles, belly rubs, and playing fetch

Strangers. Alfie loves and wants to play and cuddle with everyone (even kids) once he gets to know them, but is still convinced he should hide for awhile before he musters up the courage to start pestering them.

Favorite Toy:
Whatever is moving and whatever Ernie is trying to keep away from him. He loves little toys you can throw for him that he can carry back to you with pride, especially his little piece of rabbit fluff even though it doesn't travel very far.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Between your feet, between your back and your chair, in a lap, being held, or anywhere he can cuddle another kitty. Alfie just loves company!

Favorite Food:
Soft treats are yummy! Hold one for him and he'll happilly lick it until you get tired of holding a mushy treat!

Engineering epic cage escapes, instant purring, super speed when running upstairs where he's not allowed, and playing fetch up to 35 times in a row and only stopping because his siblings keep intercepting the ball!

Arrival Story:
Alfie is the littermate or Ernie and Izzie. Unfortunately on the day they were trapped their caretakers weren't able to catch their mother or Lucy and Alfie- the littermates. Trapping efforts continued and finally after Ernie and Izzie had already been here a week all three were trapped. Turns out their mother had already been fixed in September by another caretaker she visited but the important thing is that all her kittens are safely caught.

Alfie has made amazing progress overcoming his until recently wild upbringing and although still shy around new people has become a super sweet lap cat. Well, he often chooses to come sit on people's feet or legs, but then he's happy to be lifted up to their laps! He loves to play and is very sweet and supportive of his special needs sister Lucy. Alfie has an almost instant purr when you start petting him and he goes gaga when you rub his tummy. He *loves* other cats, first and foremost his baby Lucy, but he wanted to be friends with Ernie and Izzie again as soon as he saw them and warmly welcomes any adult cats that come to visit. He can be a little over welcoming with new cats and overwhelm them but he is super submissive and that usually helps them forgive his over-enthusiasm so he should be able to befriend most cats.

Doing Well in my New Home!

Everything is great here in my new home. We've been here a week and I've totally adjusted to my new room and new mommy. She has tasty feet! Lucy still has a way to go to get to where she was with our foster parents but has taken to hiding up on top of our neat cat tree where our new parents can easily give her pets. All that contact is sure to make a difference for her!

Yesterday our foster parents stopped by for a visit and I was sooo happy! I was a little nervous at first, but I got a good look at them and thought they seemed familiar... I came out and they started petting me and I realized who they were pretty quick. I ran between them and my new mommy getting pets and playing fetch with my fluff- it was great! I really liked showing off how great my new mommy was, like I was so proud to have her. My foster parents kept telling me not to eat my mommy's feet but I guess I haven't chewed on them that hard because she still thinks it's cute enough to let me get away with it, teeheehee! They got to pet Lucy a little in her pagoda house on the cat tree but mostly it was me hamming it up. I showed them how the doggies startle me a little when they bark real loud or come in my room but how I'm a brave boy and keep my ears and tail up straight- a good sign that I'll learn to accept them. Except that sneaky little "Gweedy" dog better not eat up all our kitten food! We're pretty protective about our food in this family- our mama kitty taught us that food was a luxury item!

So far so good! And Ernie and Izzie have a prospective adopter coming to meet them tonight, too! We hope everything works out for us here and they get to go together to a great home!

Went to my New Home!

Hey everyone! Today Lucy and I went on a long scary car ride and ended up down in our old neighborhood. They didn't take us back to our old place though, they stopped at a house with lots of nice rescued dogs and kitties. One of the dogs came right up and smelled my nose through the carrier- eep! That was kind of scary... but then again he had all sorts of fluffy bits... I REALLY like bits of fluff!

I got to check out my new room- it's got a nice big cat tree with a little pagoda on top. Foster papa helped me up in there and I decided I'd just hang out there for awhile. Poor Lucy didn't want to leave her carrier even when everyone was petting her. So eventually foster mama air-lifted her up to my new pagoda and she cozied right up to me. I'm her protective big brother shield again, just like when we first arrived at our foster home! We got to meet the oldest of our new kitty siblings- she seemed nice but when they held her up close she got a little spooked and gave me a hiss just like I hissed at the doggy- oops! But our new mommy says the other cats are more cat-cuddly so I'm hoping some of them will take us under their wings as soon as they get the chance to meet us!

I miss Izzie, Ernie, uncle Max and grumpy aunt Tigger- especially with this big storm going by, but we couldn't pass up a chance at a great forever home where we get to live as a pair the rest of our lives! Please wish us luck adjusting to life with doggies and wish Ernie and Izzie luck finding a forever home where they can live together!

We need some updates!

Hey everyone!

We've had a crazy couple of weeks here. Foster papa went on vacation so our foster mom had to focus on taking care of us all by herself and still giving us proper socialization. So unfortunately keeping things updated here had to take a backseat. But you know what? We've all made lots of progress so now that foster papa is back we'll be working to get things up-to-speed! I am now a super sweet attention loving kitty who follows his people around and jumps up in their laps all the time and my bio still contained the phrase "when you get to pet Alfie..." Ha! Try and avoid petting me without tripping over me!
