Arrival Story:
When my boyfriend (now ex-husband) and I settled into our apartment, we knew it was missing a fuzzy feline friend. We decided to talk to our friends with 18 cats. They introduced us to several, but none seemed to take to us. Finally, they brought us up to see Moo with her 4 kittens, and it was love at first sight. Of course, we knew her rosy glow was due to her new motherhood, but she's the perfect companion for me--talkative, affectionate, and playful. I can look forward to a warm body laying across my lap during the day, a headbutt each morning at the sound of the alarm, and surprise pounces when I'm preoccupied. And throughout the day, she mews and cuddles and purrs.

Bio:
Moo was spayed on Feb 17th, 2004. She gets baths twice a year in the bathtub (or at Wag'n'Wash, a do-it-yourself pet grooming place, if there's one nearby!).

A House of my Own

We moved! We moved to a HOUSE! I get to romp around multiple rooms, up and down the basement stairs, into and out of closets. It's heaven. But I also got my very first Cat Tower. I can perch up top and survey my human subjects below.

I approve of these recent changes.

Now if someone would just fetch me a toy...

Rolling in Tahini may seem like fun, but it leads to unfortunate consequences. These are:

Smelling terrible.
Getting bathed.

My favorite and least favorite grooming tools

My parents are possibly more obsessed with my good looks than I am. They have accumulated so many brushes that they could use a different one each day for a month! I figure it's my duty to my fellow felines to give them my input on the various different brushes et al that make up my grooming regimen.

My top favorite tool is, of course, my tongue. Hey! It was designed to *gently* clean my fur. Gentle is good. I'm sensitive.

When it comes to Mom and Dad, the best thing they use is a damp cloth to keep me clean, shiny, and dandruff-free. I like it when they put a little vitamin e on it--vitamin e tastes great!

The next best thing they've got is a red rubber brush. It really gets the dead fur out and gets my blood flowing to my skin. Repeated use (twice in one day or more), however, is just plain irritating.

Then there's this little wire brush for, ahem, short-haired dogs. Aside from the fact that I am in no way anything like a dog, it's not too bad. I like the way it feels on my ruff. But nowhere else, or I'll cut you, human.

Sometimes Mom and Dad get out the scissors. Now, they're not stupid--they don't try to cut out my matted fur, because they know how easily they could accidently injure me (which could lead to infections). But they do sometimes give my bloomers a trim, and though I'll admit that it feels good after the fact, I absolutely hate being held down and snipped.

Finally on my list to review, there's the flea brush. I don't have fleas, but my fur does get matted, and this is the best way to get the mats out. I don't mind it too much when Dad does it, because Dad is gentle. But Mom! Why are you so impatient? I have sensitive skin.

Of course, there are more things they use--from fingers to kitchen scrubby brushes--but the above are the most common things I'm subjected to during an average week.

Now, off to lick myself clean--before the parents get out the brushes!
