I will have been here at the bridge for 1 year next month. I would have gotten here sooner but mom would not let me go. See when I got sick, the third vet they took me to see, finally told my dad I had FIP and suggested they put me to sleep :( oh no daddy could not do that so he brought me home to mom with some meds the vet said they could only treat the symptoms and hope for the best. The best being that all the signs the vet had seen would be wrong and I would get better with treatment. Mom grabbed a hold of that hope like it was a life line and she set out to make me better. It took it's toll on her she lost several lbs in a few weeks, cause she could not eat cause her throat closed up and she felt heart sick. Then she had a hard time keeping her mind on anything cept Alley cat. We had good times together at night when she was home and I got special attention and in the beginning I did not mind the assist feeding she did for me but as time went by I just hated to see her come for me, so I tried several times to eat on my on and did it a few times but I just couldn't keep it up. I lay with mom on the bed at night time after we had dinner, and I used my strength to play with the shoe string and foil ball, I kinda missed the play time with the others and sometimes I would go down and watch them play with mom.Mom only gave up on me when the nice man vet called and said "it is time Alley cat is showing early signs of liver failure it will be so painful for her if that happens" Mom said is there nothing else we can do and he said "not really a feeding tube might save her liver for a while but the FIP is very real so really it is time to let her go without pain or surgery." Mom stayed with me the whole time and she kept telling me "I am sorry "girl girl" I don't know what else to do, and I was real brave for her never cried, or hissed or try to hide I calm and at peace. Moma laid her hand on my shoulder and kissed my fore head as I breathed my last breath on earth and took off to the bridge to meet my sisterfur skids kitty.

I know your Mom has probably read this before but my Mom thanks it would help if she read it again.

The Legend of the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except one thing- they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one stops and suddenly looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face. Your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then together, you and your special pet cross THE RAINBOW BRIDGE.
