indoors Arrival Story: Well, today,on Halloween,my friend and I went Trick or Treating. We were trick or treating when we heard screaming and hissing. My friend said that there was a cat across the street. We looked, and saw some girls. The girls had gone up to this house, and no one was home.So they were leaving, and a cat came running into the yard of the vacant house. The kids were screaming for the cat to get away cause they were allergic. My friend and I called the cat over. The cat came running across the street, and over to us. We found out that he was just a young kitten, and a stray by the looks of him.We didn't know what to do with him. We went up to the house that we were in their driveway, and asked the guy if he had seen the cat. He thought the cat was part of our costume! He said he had never seen the kitten before. We asked some other kids if the kitten looked familiar, and they said they see him roaming the neighborhood lots. my friend Hanna and I knew we couldn't leave this little BLACK kitten alone on HALLOWEEN,so we picked him up and walked back to Hanna's. Hanna said she couldn't keep the kitten, her dad was allergic, and they have a crazy dog. So,I called my mom saying I had a "treat" of a kitten, and she said I could bring him over. So,Hanna and I went to my house, and my mom fell in love, and said we could keep the kitten. Hanna and I named him "Lucky" since he crossed our path on Halloween and made us lucky. He is now sitting on the couch! Bio: We helped Lucky make his journey to the Bridge today,1-23-12.
After rescuing him on Halloween,I found out he had previously been "living" at a sort of "kitty mill",with fifty plus cats who were unhealthy, starving, and were free to roam the neighborhood. Lucky picked up FIV there, which we found out after bringing him to the vet, also to learn he had a lot of infections-just,a lot of problems. We were doing the best we could for him,he was on medication and stuff;but just recently his infections got worse and worse and having FIV made so his small body couldn't fight off the infections. After thinking and talking it over, with the vet too,we decided than rather trying to have his eye (Which was infected) removed, that having FIV,weighing five pounds, and a good chance of him having infections for the rest of his short life,we decided the kindest thing to do would be to help him make his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Lucky made his journey at about two o' clock this afternoon.
He will be remembered...

Hi all of my good friends who have helped and supported us since the day I first came to live here...
I just wanted to let everyone know that I became an Angel this afternoon at about two o' clock. I was so small-weighing only five pounds,I had FIV,I was abused in my old home, and I had so many infections... as many of you know,Mom found me with her friend Halloween 2010 while Trick-or-Treating,I had been kicked out of my old home which was a sort of "kitten mill",having about fifty unhealthy cats living there. Mom and her family took me in,and gave me a lot of love and a good home, but after discovering last year that I was FIV positive,we knew my life would be cut short. I didn't start having these bad infections until recently, and they were so bad and painful. I also had a hard time going to the bathroom. Mom's family decided that maybe the best thing would be to have me put to sleep, but were going to see if there was anything that could be done for me first. At the vet today,I felt so sick and weak, and the vet said if I would have the smallest chance of living a little longer, that my eye would have to be removed (That would mean I would be put under for surgery) , plus all of these other complicated medications and stuff. After thinking it over, and for the safety of our other cats,we decided it would probably be better for me if they helped me to the Bridge. So,after the vet gave me a calming shot,my family stayed with me and pet me and kept me calm, telling me in a few minutes I would be free of pain. Then the vet came in,and with Mom stroking my head, telling me it was okay to go,to be Fearless (Like one of her favorite Taylor Swift Songs lol), and then I flew high and free and over that Bridge.
It was a sad thing, and that I had such a short life, but Mom is just glad she could do the best possible things for me.
The hard thing is,as you know,Oliver and Taz just earned their wings in December,so it's been a really rough two months here. That's the hard thing about adopting older cats (Like Taz) and rescuing feral cats like me. But Mom would do it all over again, and I know I brought a lot of joy and happiness to her.
