Arrival Story:
Quinn's mother had taken up at our place with two kittens, then had four more (including Quinn) before we could gain her trust enough to get her to the vet.

Quinn got along well with all our other cats. He was also the only one of the younger cats who really enjoyed laptime. On August 21, 2004, we came home one Saturday evening to find Quinn gasping for breath. A trip to the emergency vet got him stablized - three days and $1,000 later he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Just when he started showing some improvement from that episode, he came down with a respiratory virus. There were times we didn't think he'd make it, but we coaxed him to eat, put food in his mouth if necessary, and forced him to take dozens of pills. A few months later, he finally got a little more lively, ate better on his own, and started gaining weight. We thought the worst was over. Then on January 23, a Sunday night, he started breathing heavily. The next morning, Tim took him to the vet, who told us that we probably couldn't stop this episode and he'd die in pain -- so we had him put to sleep. His life was too short and we miss him.
