Arrival Story:
I was in the tree next door, and Tigger kept meowing to me. Mom got me to come down with food, and she fed me every day. I started to hide in her garden by the back door, and would meow for my pal Tigger. I started to follow them around when they came out for Tigger's walk. Mom is pretty sure that my cat mommy & sibling are at the rainbow bridge already, and she was sad for them. She was so patient cause she knew I was scared, then one day she asked me if I would like to come inside the screen porch! Mom said it was too scary out there for such a teeny kitten, and now I am getting all the food I want, and pets & scritches! I never had them before but they sure feel nice! I close my eyes & purr when I feel the lovies! I went to the vet & got a shot, but I tried to be very brave. A home of my own! No more hiding from the other bad cats and scary stuff out there! Mom says she will get me my own leash so I can take walks with Tigger! I get so excited when I see him, I start to knead the ground & mew like a motorboat. Everyone here has been so nice to me & they pet me and call me a good little kitty. I have a full tummy & warm bed. I like it here! well, I have a name, and I run through the house like a whirlwind. I ask nicely for my food, ok I scream at Mom till I get my food - and I love to play! I especially love to play with Tigger.

Bio:
Smitty is still kind of shy, but he is starting to blossom. He has started to sleep at my feet at night, and will cram himself into the same box with Tigger for a nap. He has even started to seften up Maizy a teeny bit - I caught her playing tap paw with him the other day!

doing well - just fluffy

I had my 1st checkup of the new year. I just have a quick wellness check, as I am not due for any shots or tests until the summer. I was so upset though that I made potty in the carrier - which I never do, and I was panting. After I calmed down, I did get a good checkup. I weighed 15lbs though - just a bit too fluffy. I truly am a big solid boy, but 14lb should be my limit. I just have a bad habit of trying to not waste food, so I make sure to clean up everyone's dishes if they don't finish their foods. Momma says too that the limited ingredient food may have more calories since it has all meat, so perhaps the richer food is not helping. I did try a sample of Natural Balance Fat Cat dry. I liked it, but it did not like my tummy. I got sick all over the place. Momma said it looked like I returned waaayy more than I took in. She felt so bad that it made me sick, but I guess there was no way to know. Maizy is the one that needs the limited ingredient food, so we all just eat it. Although I have always had a bit touchy tummy. So, there have been some obvious cutbacks in my foods dish, which I am not happy about. I was not consulted in this apparently executive decision, and have tried to voice my concern...ALOT. I have even been forced to live on only 2 treats per day...ONLY 2!!! The sacrifices we must make to maintain our catly manliness is beyond me..... Hope that you are all well - maybe this 2 year mark of Catster defunk will mean something good? yeah and maybe I will get a platter of tuna too.....one can only hope.....happy almost Mardi Gras & Paczki Day!

my favorite spot

Well, I was a happy happy boy when Momma, The Dad & Human Sister brought the Christmas tree in the house a couple weeks ago. It smells so good. I was patient - Human Sister put the lights on, and spread the nice soft tree skirt underneath, that Nana made for Momma several years ago. Then, It.Was.Time.
My most favoritest spot to be, is under the tree. I love to just lay there & I look up at the lights, and I know that Momma always puts a soft ornament or two on the bottom for me to tap. She put one with a little bell on it! The rest of the ornaments do not go to the bottom. Momma says who cares if it looks goofy with the bottom ornamentless. Better than having ones broken. So that is my spot pretty much most of the time. Felix, likes to try & eat the tree, so he gets in trouble. I am good, I just like to bask in the Christmas glow. Last nite, I had my paws tucked up so cute, Momma squealed. Really she did...I think tonite I will ponder what will be in our stocking next week....
Happy almost Friday my friends.

help the black kitties!

I am also posting this through the other kits pages - sending out a plea to help a whole bunch of black kitties in trouble!

A vacated hoarder's home in the Chicago area was found to have close to 100 kitties in it - looks like most of them are black or tuxies. We all know it is so much harder for black kitties. (I have a special spot in my heart for a little black cat) Tree House Humane Society, Paws Chicago & Chicago Animal Control have been trapping the kitties, as they are boarding up the house today. Now they say they will not board it up until they are positive that there are no kits inside. Tree House has about 70 of the kits, but they are looking for foster help, adoption help, and surely monetary help.
Tree House is a very good place - they are big with TNR & they have a Community Cat placement too. The kitties look to be reasonably healthy as the man that had lived there was trying to feed them even after they foreclosed his house & now it is unhabitable. While I would love to foster, with 4 inside & a colony of 7, I cannot, but I will be sending some extra funds to help. (I am already a Member of Tree House & Paws)
The goal is to keep these lovely house panthers from being put down - as you know many ferals are. That is why they are awesome, cause they will take a feral group & place them in an area for rodent control or for barn cats. They are spaying/neutering/chipping & vaccinating all these babies. Please help if you are able! Here is their website
