Arrival Story: The story of Opty is one filled with a few bumps but a truly happy ending. He started out with a lady and her child in an apartment complex that abuts a commercial State office building. Over time this family unfortunately began to give him less of what he wanted and needed in life and he began looking for extra pets & treats...and food from the nice ladies who fed other cats around the office complex. A time approached in October 2009 that the ladies who fed the strays & ferals (really just about 3-4 cats) were going to be moving to a new office complex. They enlisted MY help as a fellow cat lover & because my offices were still under lease at the building and would be able to take on the feeding schedule. Optimas and I bonded over the months - as I did with the other cats, even the un-pettable ones - but I always knew something was special about the relationship we were forming. My break times began to be filled with him sitting in my lap kneading and purring. This cat was not meant for stray alley cat life. Property management recently started enforcing stricter rules on the feeding & cleaning up after the cats, etc., and after a very insane lecture from a pest control man it became clear that giving Opty a forever home had to happen. The other cats being more out of site draw no attention - but Opty parking himself in front of my office door each morning YOWLING for me made things...well obvious MOL! As of August 20, 2010 Optimas-Osiris (formerly Optimus Prime) came home with me to join my furmily!!! Until he's gotten all vet clearance he is separated from the other furs, but is acclimating well. He's eating great & using the litter box like a champ! This choice took some thought - but not much - you just KNOW when a cat has picked YOU!

Our Opty sadly went to rainbow bridge today - he was positive for Feline Leukemia. Our hearts will always be heavy for this loss. He never met the other furs of my household - but knew my love to his last day.

Bio: Based on Optimas's size (the potential for him to be larger), his teeth condition, the length of time we've been seeing him around & feeding him we are thinking he's about 2 1/2 currently and therefore has a Meowday around Feb 20th.

I've come to rainbow bridge today - I can see meowmy crying. I ended up with leukemia - I keep purring to her that she could never have known, she gave me so much love - I appreciate it all. While my life was short, my joy is never ending. The beauty of where I have gone, the peace in my body - it's all ok over here in rainbow bridge.
I thank you all for the love and prayers! It means so much to me!

Well meowmy is nervous - tomorrow is my big day at the vet! Getting...Ummm...fixed!!! Getting my vaccines, microchipped & tested for any funny diseases! I know it's gonna be good though - once I'm all fixed up & healed up, I'll be able to join the rest of the meows in the main part of the house & get to sleep in moms room! I mean I like having my own bedroom & bathroom right now and all - but I want full access to the rest of the house! Meowmy hates anesthesia - but knows this is a simple routine thing which in the long run will give me soooo many benefits!!!! :) So everyone purrrrr for me!! :)
Meowsss,
Opty
