I pranced out of the kitchen, waiting to greet my good friend, Eddie. "You look like a mess Charlotte!" he said. "How does it concern you?" I said. "Because," he continued. "there is a good chance you might get a bath."
"They wouldn't give me a bath even if I was matted up!"
"Oh..they will. At least, I am sure you are used to it." Eddie said. He walked away, leaving a trail of scent that smelled like freshly washed cats.
"He is just trying to scare me." I said to myself, trying to shake off the feeling of the thought of water. I went over to the window, thinking about what would happen when my humans came back. Would they really force me to take a bath? Or will they just ignore the fact that I am covered in dirt because I played in the basement for an hour? I really am confused about this matter, but I insisted to myself that if they tried, I would run and hide from them.
I fell asleep, and hours past.
They came back with stuff a normal human would bring back. They looked at me, and exchanged looks.. I could hear faint mumbling.
"-She's really not clean.."
"-Need's bath."
"-Grab her and take her to the bathroom."
I looked at them, wide eyed of the fact that they where giving me a bath, they looked back at me and one reached out to get me.
I ran to the closet, hoping that they wouldn't find me.
Boy, was I wrong.
A human arm scooped me up by the stomach, and carried me in the bathroom tub. I meowed like there was no tomorrow. Eddie heard me from under the door, and rolled his eyes. "I told you!" he said. "I thought you where kidding!" I shouted.
"'Course not! I take baths every week for when I go to cat shows! Don't panic. you don't want to get hurt when you squirm. I insist. You are actually going to hurt yourself and it wont be our human's fault." "But how can I NOT squirm when I am in water? It's something us cats do when something is holding us down! It's kitty instincts!"
"Fine, don't say I didn't warn you."
He walked off, and went to eat his food.
A half an hour later, I was finally clean.
"She looks really good!" My human said.
"I'll say! You did a good job. I think Charlotte deserves a treat."
She put me down and gave me three greenie treats.
Eddie came back in and sat beside me. "See? It isn't so bad. Once you get used to it, it actually feels okay."
"Yeah, I guess so."
After that valuable lesson, I started getting used to the place.
And I knew that I should never ever try to underestimate by being clean. Your human WILL give baths eventually.. And they will be strict about it.
