Arrival Story:
I was at a pet smart looking at the cats when I saw a sign that said that Animal Rescue needed volunteers for that store, so I filled out an application. We already had 3 cats by this time, and we were not planning to get any more, so I thought this would be the best way to hold, pet, and play with as many cats as I wanted with out taking them all home and it would help a lot of needy cats. I turned in my application, and got a call to come in for training after a successful phone interview. When I came in, I was supposed to listen to instructions but I kept being distracted by the most adorable cat that I had ever met. That cat was Jasper( at the time known as Thatcher), He was in his cage, but he refused to let that stop him from getting attention. I now know that he hates being locked up in anything and he absolutely loves attention. He was in his cage grabbing anyone who got close enough, and making a mess with his water dish and toys. It was adorable, I couldn't stop paying attention to him. When you would let him out, he would snuggle with you, or carry toys around in his mouth, and purr his head off, my heart absolutely melted. I have never fell in love with a cat before or since, the way I fell in love with him. I was a goner. I begged my husband to let me have him, it was painful to think of leaving with out adopting him, it was love at first sight. My husband agreed to hold him, and then he fell in love too. We put in an application right away, and since the lady who handles the adoptions saw how much I loved him, I was able to take him home in about a week. He was sick when we finally got him home. He had something like a cold, and he was really underweight. He was half the size of my ginger boy and he is older by a couple of weeks. He was such a little trooper though. He hated being stuck in a room by himself most of the time, but when ever we came in, he would purr and snuggle all over us, and he always took his medicine with out making a fuss. He was a good little guy and I felt so bad for him, but he got healthy, and big, and he is a very very happy special kitty now. He has one of the most amazing cat personalities and I am glad we brought him home.
