OMC! It has been a long time since we posted anything here...too long!
Well, meowmy has been going through some stresses and so she thought it would be good to get some stress relief...and of course we know that many of you kitties and your furmilies are also enduring stressfur times, so this is fur you too.
Some "perspectives" are worth sharing!
A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience; with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?'..... she fooled them all... "How heavy is this glass of water?", she inquired with a smile.
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."
"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night... pick them up tomorrow.
Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment. Relax, pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it and the now 'supposed' stress that you've conquered!"
1 * Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue!
2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker..
5 * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it..
7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
8 * Never buy a car you can't push.
9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
10 * Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
11 * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.
13 * When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
15 * You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
16 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
17 * We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
18 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
19 * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today.
20 * It was us, your friends!
*Save the earth..... It's the only planet with chocolate !*
We hope this served its purpose!
Well, meowmy left us for a few days to go to Ontario and visit her sister and aunt, because her aunt was having her 92nd birthday! And she is doing well, and enjoys all the things her life is blessed with!
She took dog-guy with her, so we had a staycation that was good at least in that regard...but all of a sudden pawppy who was supposed to be staying with us, had to make an emergency trip to Washington, DC. Our Grammy had a massive stroke:( Meowmy asked pawppy if he wanted her to go along, but he said no, that she would have to go in a separate car, and she could not take any more time off her (fairly new) job...since they do not allow enough time to attend a funeral so far away...and yes our Grammy did pass away on the 8th.
(Do not feel too sad for us, Grammy has not been well at all and suffered from severe dementia for a long time, so this is a release from her earthly frailties.)
So meowmy hurried back home from her trip, and now we are here alone...at least for several more days...and meowmy will be missing both the funeral and the memorial service...but at least we can communicate at any time with pawppy via the 'puter or phone...
Tomorrow meowmy has to go back to work...probably a good thing to get her mind on other things!
Sunday the 13th is her birthday...so us kitties will have to do the entertaining for her! We are good at that, we think. It sure will be a strange day for her! And she has to work that day, too, MOL!
Is this stress? MOL! She is glad that we know how to help...we are good at purring and lapwarming...
Well she did go to a group of friends this morning, so at least she is not alone...and her church is a big support, too.
Purrs to all and thanks for stopping by for your own dose of stress relief!
Wow, that sure is a lot of stress!! We LOVED the observations, especially about the water glass. Really good stuff.
Mom is really active in her church, too, and she will pray for things to settle down for you!
Luv, Tink & Snow
Thanks, Tink & Snow; you are good furends to us, and that really helps a lot!
Hi guys! We're here to support you as well. You're such good friends to us and it seems right now we have something in common. Hopefully your meowmy has some stress relief soon too! We love you!
Thanks so much, Alex and furmily.
We can commiserate! MOL! Actually we can just be there for each other as always...
You know what relieves stress? Giving kitties cheek scritches. At least that's my advice - MOL!
Fur sure, Jez!
Take care of your meowmy......and help to keep her stress level down.....ones body can only take so much.....seems as though your meowmy has a good grasp to minimize it being able to see the bright side in any situation is a huge plus.....you're in our thoughts...
I personally liked #18......
Stress it seems there is allot of stress now a days for so many of us...Mom comes here to relieve stress too...
We send your Mom our love and prayers during this sad time...our Grandma has dementia too so we know how hard it is for the loved ones....they are here in body, but not in mind! It hurts Mom to see her Mom this way...your grandma is at peace now and remembers again...
we loves what you wrote and it is so true...Mom learned that life is short and we all need to take time to smell the rose and be here for one another....
hugs and love to you all, know we are here for you all too...
Xena and family
Thanks, Harley and Xena.
When you are on a detour, you actually do tend to see the scenery, because it is all new!
Ha, I was goin' to say depends on how long u hold dat glass! MOL! Dis is some good stuff, Pipo 'n Minko! If we could sum it all up, what it all really means is how we all look at life 'n what our attitudes bring's us. Shrugs, me Paw always tell's mommy to Nefur sweat da small stuff's 'n it NOT always important to try to 1st~as long as u r there to enjoy da dance! Happy Early birfday to ur sweet mommy 'n sorry her had to werk dat day, but u bof will be there at home waitin' fur her wif lotza love 'n funny stuff goin' on! We lubbs ya all!!
Purrs 'head bonks,
The one thing that makes meowmy know she is an optimist...mostly...is that when she hears grumbling about things at work being too busy and junk like that, she thinks to herself, you could have used that grumbling time to do some of that work...MOL! Sheesh, one day she is going to tell them that!
Yeps, dat's it! For what time dey spend at mommy's werk's bickerin' ofur what need's to done, it could haz already been done three time's ofur!! Funny how some folks jus' really like drama! Mommy will jus' walk away in those circumstances. 'n Ya know, mommy HAZ told 'em dat, but it don't do any good. Peeps always will haz complaint's 'n don't mind sharin' 'em!! MOL! Shrugs! It's like dey want to bring us down, coz dey ain't happy in their own lives! Geez!~
Yup...but yesterday one of the girls who never grumbles looked so sad...so meowmy asked her if she felt OK, cause she knew the load she had to do was heavy, but she didn't have anything to say about that, she had just had to put her beloved poodle to The Bridge.
She didn't know who to talk about it, cause only those who have been there really know/feel...so meowmy told her about Dogster and Catster, too.
Maybe she will join, so she can derive some pleasure from her now angel pup...
so the moral is:
Always know the person and be prepared for the unexpected!
By the way, yesterday a lady who can't do anything for herself, smiled and said jhello to meowmy when meowmy woke her up! That was a bright spot and makes thais kind of work very gratifying.
OMC...another diary entry in the comments...MOL!
Mewomy wanted to say, too...she has to go off to work now, so I will come back here later and paw my thoughts and stuff some more before the long nightly nap!
The girl meowmy works with has scanned all her pics, and checked out the Catster/Dogster websites, so we think soon there may be a new member...Hooray!Her and meowmy had a nice chat...she still feels the house is so empty...yes, we do know all about that...and it is good for her to be able to talk about it.
Even better if she comes here.
Oh I so sorry to hear 'bout ur mom's furiend's poodle doggie!! Dat's so sad when folks don't know anyfur dey can talk to 'bout losin' a fur memmer o' da families. I so happy ur mom tol' her 'bout Catster/Dogster! Coz ya know's, DIS is da greatest place fur love 'n consolation's. It will definately halp's her when da time is right to bring 'nother lovin' fur into her household...coz none o' us want an empty home!!! Ur mom is furry wise!!
Hey guys! Sometimes mom things her middle name is STRESS~
So thanks for this great entry. The story about the water glass is really great! Love, # 18!
Mom says us our purring is a great stress buster also catster and our lovely pals~ like you guys!
Yes, that empty home is the worst thing...
TB we liked that #18 too, it is a great thing to be able to make lemonade out of lemons...not sour faces!
