For the love of BBQ: The chain of events that led to my- gotcha day

Once upon a time, there was a couple of humans with two cats. They thought they were "done", as in "no more cats for us".

However, they really liked BBQ: brisket, sausage, turkey... They were invited to a little girl's 1st birthday, but decided to decline because the human-man was recovering from a surgery.

But then, they learned that the party was going to be catered by their favorite BBQ restaurant! They had an idea: the human-female would go to the party and bring the human-man some BBQ.

Now they recognize that their judgement was clouded by the promise of BBQ. Why? Because first, they knew that the little girl and her parents had been experiencing tummy troubles a few days prior. They knew there was a bug going around, a virus. They knew that viruses are contagious even after the symptoms have disappeared. They knew that the human-man was particularly susceptible to viruses. His immune system was greatly suppressed by medications because he had had a kidney transplant a month before! So even a weak virus could have been a disaster for him.

Anyway, the human-female went to the party, and like an Eve bringing the forbidden fruit to her Adam, she gave her human-man a few pieces of brisket and turkey. Inadvertently, she gave him something else...

After a week in the hospital, being closely monitored so that his tummy troubles didn't make him lose his new-to-him kidney, he was released. (The human-female did not show any symptoms. Felt a bit weird at first, but never got sick. Other people at the party got very sick.)

That week at the hospital was chaotic. Coincidentally, both of their cars were out of commission. So the first thing the human-man wanted to do as soon as he felt better was to buy a new car battery. The auto parts store was next to a Petco. That's were I come into the picture.

My meowmie found me inside a cage with other Second Chance Pets in the adoption area. She called my pawpa, and he could not let me go. The next day they picked me up.

If he had not gotten sick they would have bought the car battery earlier, during the week, and would have never found me. Maybe it was destiny, maybe they just wanted to turn a bad chain of events into something good. Whatever it was, I'm here to stay!

Survivalist Seminar

Last night I gave a seminar to my sisters Katya Luna and Priscilla.

There was a big trash bag on the kitchen floor that my pawrents must have forgotten to put outside, and I figured that it could be used as a great teaching resource. So I demonstrated how to open the trash bag by making a hole with my claws, and my sisters followed suit. When my pawpa went downstairs this morning, he found the bag with three holes and human food all over the floor. Priscilla tried to clean up but was not able to finish eating the rice and other unidentified deliciousness that spilled from the bag. Bless her heart, I know she tried.

My humans purchased new dry food that it is supposed to be of higher quality. Well, I happen to prefer the old food, and so do my sisters. I have been moving the plates around to see if I'm lucky to find any morsel of my old food. We eat the new food, but keep going back to our plates to see if my humans have added my favorite food. *sigh* I may have a tiny brain, but I have preferences! I miss my old food :(
