The new arrival

Just when I was all settled in at the Bridge, I heard there was a new arrival from our house.

I was thinking that maybe Callie had made her journey and we could catch up on girl talk. Unfortunately, it was that silly boy Teebo!

I know, I know, he's a really nice cat, blah, blah, blah. But I never really got along with boy cats in life, and I'm not going to start now.

However, if I have to get along with a boy cat, he's probably the least offensive one from the house. He's certainly better than Bran!

Well, I guess I better give Teebo a chance, he does seem pretty nice, and he does have those gorgeous green eyes and earnest, sweet expression.

Awww, why not. I guess a girl has to try new things at some point, right?

Rainbow Bridge Purrs,

A very overdue thank you

I wanted to say a very sincere and heartfelt thank you from our family to all of our wonderful Catster friends who were there for us when I crossed over to the Bridge.

It was so unexpected, and it's been really hard for Mom to come back, so we apologize for our long absence.

Mom and Dad are doing well, but of course they miss me (who wouldn't - I'm adorable!). My ashes are in a beautiful pink stained glass urn, which holds 3 pictures of me as well.

I'm doing well at the Bridge, and I make sure to sprinkle angel dust on my family often, though I think I may have overdone it once early on and caused it to snow (ooops!).

Oh, and do make sure to send a friend request to the new addition to the family - even though he is a boy cat. I remember him from my time at the shelter, and he's a really nice cat.

Angelic purrs,

A view from the Bridge

It's been quite a whirlwind the last few days. I've been so busy going through orientation and getting flying lessons at the Bridge that I haven't had a chance to write a Diary Entry.

I have indeed made my journey to the Bridge. It was quite unexpected. On Wednesday morning, Mom and Dad were getting ready to leave for a trip and noticed I was acting a little funny. Me acting funny turned into me having a seizure. Dad called the vet right away, and while they were waiting for the vet to call back, I had another one.

Mom and Dad quickly finished getting ready (they tag teamed so they could watch me) and took me in. The vet took a glucose reading and my blood sugar was really low, so they thought the seizures were cause by low blood sugar and told Mom and Dad to go on their trip.

Mom and Dad set off for Illinois, a little worried, but confident that the vet would take wonderful care of me. Over the next few hours, the vet and staff worked on getting my blood sugar up by giving me Karo syrup and IV with sugar water in it. I was giving them my patented Rosie spunk and I was really hungry, so it seemed at first like this was the issue.

However, a few hours later, my blood sugar started going wonky again and I became listless. The vet felt I should have overnight monitoring in case of another seizure, so I got transferred to the emergency vet by Grandma and Grandpa, and Mom and Dad turned around and started for home.

Mom and Dad made it back to Green Bay by 9:30pm and went straight to the emergency vet. Unfortunately, I had a few more seizures and was given Valium and anti-seizure medication. I was pretty out of it, but I finally perked my head up a little for Mom when she was talking to me.

Mom and Dad came back to take me back to my regular vet in the morning for more observation, but I kept going downhill and didn't even stand up at all on Thursday.

When Mom and Dad came into the vet's office on Thursday afternoon, it became clear that I was ready to make my journey to the Bridge because my little body had simply given out. There was something else going on besides my diabetes, but due to my age and the condition I was in, it was too much to ask me to go through more testing, so they decided to help me on my journey.

I know that Mom and Dad are sad that I'm not with them anymore on earth, but I'm still there with them in spirit, and I've been giving the other cats in the house instructions to help keep the house running like it should.

Rainbow Bridge Purrs,

Diabetes update

I can't believe it's almost been 6 months since I've written a diary entry. I wanted to give you a quick update on how I'm doing with my diabetes. The short answer is that I'm doing really well.

The new vet was able to get my blood sugar levels where they needed to be, so I'm doing really well. I'm really good about taking my insulin. I'm feeling so good that I'm even smacking Bran if he starts getting in my face too much. Seriously, that boy just gets too big for his britches sometimes.

Other than that, I've been enjoying life, especially cuddling up with Mom on the couch or looking outside at the birds - especially now that it's finally warming up.

Contented purrs,

Thank you!

Thanks to all of my pals for helping Teebo, Callie and I celebrating out Birthdays. Mom tried to post our Birthday photos, but Catster is having a few fleas today.

We're going to spend the our evening doing our favorite thing, napping and cuddling with Mom and Dad.

We finally got on to Catster!!!

Just a quick update on me. I have developed diabetes, so I'm on insulin twice a day. We're still working on getting my levels where they need to be, but Mom says I'm a model patient. We know it'll take time to get things balanced for me, so

Even though Mom gives me insulin, I still cuddle by Mom all the time when she's on the couch.

Other than my twice daily shots, I'm doing really good. I continue to be the relaxed, cuddly cat I've always been.

Contented purrs,

Pearly whites!

Teebo, Callie and I had our toofies cleaned yesterday, so we had to spend the day at the vet.

My cleaning went well, but sometime between my annual exam and my cleaning yesterday, one of my fangs fell out. Now I have 3 fangs, just like Teebo!

I also have a cute mini ugg boot on my front leg from the fluids.

When I got home, I made sure that I could still eat my kibble, and I can.

Unfortunately, I also got some antibiotics that I have to take. I'm not so thrilled about taken pills, but it'll be okay.

Pearly white purrs,

Annual vet visit!

Teebo, Callie and I had our annual vet visit yesterday. We're all doing well, other than being a little chunky and all needing dentals.

Mom and Dad did a senior exam for me, so they took me back and not only did they take my blood, they also took some urine. I guess they squeezed a little too hard because I peed all over my carrier when I came back to the exam room. Sorry Mom and Dad!

My blood test results should be back tomorrow. We're not expecting anything out of the ordinary to come back.

Recovering from a vet visit purrs,

Coping with kittens

I'm learning to cope with having 3 kittens in the house. Daenerys is fine. She mostly hangs out with Teebo and doesn't really bother me.

Arya is okay most of the time. I've touched noses with her a few times, and will even share the occasional plate of moist food with her.

Bran, on the other hand, is another story. Every time that boy comes within range, he hisses at me. I can just be sitting there, and he'll walk up to me and hiss at me. He doesn't attack, just hisses. Mom says I might be partly at fault because I hissed at him all the time when he was smaller. I say that's balderdash. Why would a cat start hissing at me just because I hissed at him first?

Confused purrs,

So very sad....

My whole family is so sad to hear that Catster is discontinuing the wonderful community we have all created here on Catster.

If anyone on Facebook would like to be friends with my meowmy so you can continue to hear about us (and hopefully we'll hear about you!), please send my Mom a friend request. Her name is Heather Stuebs
