Diabetes update

I can't believe it's almost been 6 months since I've written a diary entry. I wanted to give you a quick update on how I'm doing with my diabetes. The short answer is that I'm doing really well.

The new vet was able to get my blood sugar levels where they needed to be, so I'm doing really well. I'm really good about taking my insulin. I'm feeling so good that I'm even smacking Bran if he starts getting in my face too much. Seriously, that boy just gets too big for his britches sometimes.

Other than that, I've been enjoying life, especially cuddling up with Mom on the couch or looking outside at the birds - especially now that it's finally warming up.

Contented purrs,

Thank you!

Thanks to all of my pals for helping Teebo, Callie and I celebrating out Birthdays. Mom tried to post our Birthday photos, but Catster is having a few fleas today.

We're going to spend the our evening doing our favorite thing, napping and cuddling with Mom and Dad.

Birthday Purrs,

We finally got on to Catster!!!

Just a quick update on me. I have developed diabetes, so I'm on insulin twice a day. We're still working on getting my levels where they need to be, but Mom says I'm a model patient. We know it'll take time to get things balanced for me, so

Even though Mom gives me insulin, I still cuddle by Mom all the time when she's on the couch.

Other than my twice daily shots, I'm doing really good. I continue to be the relaxed, cuddly cat I've always been.

Contented purrs,

Pearly whites!

Teebo, Callie and I had our toofies cleaned yesterday, so we had to spend the day at the vet.

My cleaning went well, but sometime between my annual exam and my cleaning yesterday, one of my fangs fell out. Now I have 3 fangs, just like Teebo!

I also have a cute mini ugg boot on my front leg from the fluids.

When I got home, I made sure that I could still eat my kibble, and I can.

Unfortunately, I also got some antibiotics that I have to take. I'm not so thrilled about taken pills, but it'll be okay.

Pearly white purrs,

Annual vet visit!

Teebo, Callie and I had our annual vet visit yesterday. We're all doing well, other than being a little chunky and all needing dentals.

Mom and Dad did a senior exam for me, so they took me back and not only did they take my blood, they also took some urine. I guess they squeezed a little too hard because I peed all over my carrier when I came back to the exam room. Sorry Mom and Dad!

My blood test results should be back tomorrow. We're not expecting anything out of the ordinary to come back.

Recovering from a vet visit purrs,

Coping with kittens

I'm learning to cope with having 3 kittens in the house. Daenerys is fine. She mostly hangs out with Teebo and doesn't really bother me.

Arya is okay most of the time. I've touched noses with her a few times, and will even share the occasional plate of moist food with her.

Bran, on the other hand, is another story. Every time that boy comes within range, he hisses at me. I can just be sitting there, and he'll walk up to me and hiss at me. He doesn't attack, just hisses. Mom says I might be partly at fault because I hissed at him all the time when he was smaller. I say that's balderdash. Why would a cat start hissing at me just because I hissed at him first?

Confused purrs,

So very sad....

My whole family is so sad to hear that Catster is discontinuing the wonderful community we have all created here on Catster.

If anyone on Facebook would like to be friends with my meowmy so you can continue to hear about us (and hopefully we'll hear about you!), please send my Mom a friend request. Her name is Heather Stuebs

Sad purrs,

Picture time!

Yesterday was time for our annual holiday photo shoot. Kat, the photographer, just LOVES me. Mom and Dad decided to do group photos and individual photos of us.

When they were setting up the group shot, somehow annoying little Bran ended up sitting next to me. He's such an amateur that I had to let my displeasure known by hissing and growling at him.

Bran got the message and repeatedly jumped off the crate we were sitting on. Unfortunately, they kept bringing him back. I decided that if that's where he was going to sit that I would take a nap. Apparently, that wasn't a popular idea because they kept waking me up. Being the professional model I am, I kept myself awake and they got all the needed photos of us.

Professional model purrs,

Good news/bad news

This weekend has been the weekend of good news and bad news

Good News
-I won 3rd place overall in the costume contest at Hiss and Howl (a fundraiser for Happily Ever After) yesterday
-I got a break from the crazy foster kittens by going to the event last night.
-I was adored and petted like crazy last night

Bad News
-Mom and Dad decided to adopt one of the foster kittens. Worse yet, they had to keep one of the boys!
-Teebo keeps trying to make friends with me today, so I'm forced to hiss, growl and swat at him today.

Overall, my weekend had more good than bad. I guess I'll get used to the new little guy Bran. Feel free to stop by and send him a friend request.

Resigned purrs,

Happy 4th of July and my Gotcha Day story!

Not only do I get to celebrate Independence Day today, I also get to celebrate my Gotcha Day!

In honor of my Gotcha Day, I thought I would share my journey. I was brought to Happily Ever After because my former family's home was being foreclosed on. They knew because I was an older cat that I would have a harder time getting adopted, so they wanted to bring me to a no-kill shelter (which Happily Ever After is!). I had a few of my siblings with me at Happily Ever After and one by one I saw them get adopted.

I went to a number of adoption events, but no luck. I then ended up being at Petsmart, where my new Mom and Dad (though they didn't know it at the time) volunteered every week. They got a chance to get to know me and I would sit on Dad's lap every week. Potential adopters would come and see me and fall in love with me, until my age came up. As soon as they found out I was 9 years old, they would decide they didn't want me. It was breaking Mom and Dad's hearts, though they kept resisting because of some silly 2 cats only rule at their condo.

After being at Petsmart for a while, Happily Ever After opened its own adoption center and I was moved there. I wasn't there for long, though! Dad brought his Mom to show her the adoption center and Dad picked me up and cuddled with me. Dad's Mom looked at me and said 'She's looking for you, this is your cat.'

A quick discussion in the car followed and Mom and Dad decided to bend the 2 cat rule (they say they have 2 types of cats - calico and tabby) and adopt me.

I'll admit that I'm still not crazy about Teebo and Callie, but we do have an understanding, and I love my new forever home.
