Arrival Story: I went to the Humane Society last Saturday and checked out the cats. I looked at a few older cats which caught my eye. Ava (called Lucy at the time) was in the playroom with one of the cats I was considering. That cat turned out to be aggressive towards the others in the room but especially towards Ava. So, I felt bad for Ava and decided to consider her instead. Her face looks so much like my cat Cookie who went to the bridge 2 years ago. We took her to a private room and all she did was investigate the entire room and was more interested in looking at the dogs thru the window than pay attention to me. So, I told the guy that I didn't think I would adopt her. Then all of a sudden she jumps in my lap and lays down. After a few minutes she does her investigating the room thing again but then turned right back around and jumped in my lap again and laid down. So, although I didn't feel that connection with her that I've felt with the others I've adopted, I decided to give her a chance anyway. That first night home was very rocky. She did all the hissing and swatting and growling at the others instead of the other way around like it usually goes. She even decided to tempt fate while I was petting her because she decided to smack me in the forehead with her claws. I saw stars and didn't even hesitate to smack her back and put her in her place. I know she saw stars too! I seriously considered taking her back to the humane society on Monday and I told her that. I went to bed that night and when I woke up in the morning, she was laying at the bottom of the bed and she definitely changed her tune over night. She never fought, growled or hissed again since then. I've had her a week as of tomorrow. She loves to play with the kittens and surprisingly enough, she loves to play with my dog Baby Girl. It's amazing how she fit in the very next day!

Bio: According to the paperwork that came with her, she originally came to the humane society as a stray. She got adopted but they brought her back claiming allergies to her long hair.
It took me almost a day and a half to come up with a name for her. Everyone kept offering suggestions plus I came up with many of my own but none of them seemed to fit. While taking a shower, she was sitting on the outside watching me so I decided to ask her what her name was. I figured it couldn't hurt. Ava was the first name that popped into my head after I asked her so that's what she got named.

I just had my first check up at the vet. I was a very vocal kitty on the ride to and from the vet. I definitely didn't like it!
I weighed in at 9.7 pounds and I tested negative for worms but I had tapeworm remnants in my fur so they treated me for worms. The vet was pleased over all with my condition which made mom happy.
I'm happy to be home now and free to roam about the house again. Mom's happy cuz it's quiet again. I really do have a set of lungs on me and she hopes she doesn't have to test them out again anytime soon!
