Arrival Story: We were going to see the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" at the local theatre in our small town. Everyone knows I am the local groomer and they pointed out this pitiful kitten and wanted me to take him and find him a home...well I was going to see the movie and had no intention of keeping a cat. I found a milk crate on the sidewalk so I put him in it and turned it upside down till the movie was over...When we came out ..the crate was turned over and the kitten was gone...but of course someone HAD to find him under a car and I was forced to take him home. Well this poor little kitten had so many fleas I couldnt' believe he was still alive...it was the worst case of fleas I've ever seen in my life...his gums were as white as his teeth he was so anemic! Well I took care of the fleas and got his blood cells back on track, took him to vet to have him wormed..but I was still not keeping this cat...I would place him in rescue..so I made a home for him in one of my crates in the grooming shop. Everytime I went by the cage he would put his little paws out and knead me...so I started promoting him as the massage therapist..and tried to convince my clients to take him....he was scheduled to go to rescue as soon as there was an opening (within 2 weeks) but...something happened....I was in bed one night and told my husband...Tim...I am falling in love with that kitten....to which he replied YOU ARE NOT KEEPING A CAT IN THE HOUSE! ...and I repeated..but I am really falling in love with that cat....and he repeated YOU ARE NOT KEEPING THAT CAT!....of course the next day I bought him a bigger litter box and put it in the laundry room....my hubby came home from work and the kitten jumped up on his lap....shortly after that my hubby came carrying Fuzz in his arms and said "Well I gotta put my other kid to bed"...I knew he was hooked!...When we had our windows replaced suddenly Fuzz had no sill to lay on..so my hubby built him a sill just for him to watch the birds. (of course you remember..he didnt want a cat) lol! He made friends with our guinea pig Arthur in fact Arthur had a large aquarium for a cage and I'd find Fuzz in there with him...not hurting him..but laying in it with him watching tv! lol! We'd let Arthur and Fuzz out together and they'd chase each other around the family room. We lost Arthur on Christmas Day 2003 a few months after we lost Fuzz. They are now buried side by side like the buddies they were. We dont know what breed he was...most likely very mixed but he was as Maine Coon looking as they come. He was a wonderful boy who left us in August of 2003 at the age of only one. We still do not know exactly what happened but I was shocked to lose him.
Bio: Life is funny...even after Fuzz passed away...after we had gotten Dixie our new kitty to help fill the void....I would lay in bed and could feel a cat walking on my legs up my body...I would wake up...and think...Dixie is in my bed...then I'd remember ..no doors are closed..she is in my sons room...must be dreaming...laid back down and could feel again...this time I opened my eyes and I could see the covers moving with each step..but nothing there....then it hit me...Fuzz came back to say goodbye. That happened once or twice since then and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that he is still here with me.
