Good morning, everyone! This is HRH Calico Princess Olivia Catherine speaking. I'm the designated spokescat for the three of us, since I have the most life experience AND the loudest voice (I won't say I'm the oldest!). And we'd just like to thank the Catster cat for making us the Daily Diary Pick! We are so excited, thrilled, and honored to be chosen, and we're going to do our best to keep our diary more up to date than we have been.
In fact, can you believe - it's been JUNE of last year since we updated everyone on what's going on with us.
Since then, several things have happened, so let's catch you up to speed.
In no particular order:
1) Finn, the newest member of the cat crew affectionately known as the Dyna Cats, turned one year old in January. There were times we frankly thought he wasn't going to make it. He was a pretty sickly little kid for a long time, and Mom spent lots of her green papers at the cat fix it place trying to figure out exactly what was wrong and get him better. Also, in between trips to the cat fix it place, he seemed at times to be engaged in some sort of super secret audition for the cat circus. In the process of these "auditions", he broke one of a pair of antique lamps and Mom's favorite picture frame, among other things. This did not make Mom happy, and she joked once or twice about tossing him back out onto the street. In the early days, I admit, I would have welcomed this plan with open paws, but now I'd kinda miss the little guy. If nothing else, he keeps Tanner somewhat occupied and my nap times are now much more peaceful. And it is, of course, ALL ABOUT ME!
2) We have celebrated the beginning of a New Year! Personally, I can't much tell the New from the Old, but so long as my meals continue to arrive on time, I am thoroughly brushed with my special purple brush at least once a day, and I continue to be pampered and adored in the manner to which I've become accustomed, I guess I'm fine with it.
3) We've started a blog! Well, actually, our dog brother, Tucker, started it, and it does have his name on it, but Tanner, Finn, and I post there, too. And in fact, sometimes Tucker gets a little upset, because it's supposed to be his blog, but since there are more cats in the house than dogs, we get an awful lot of blog time. So come on over to tuckertellsall.blogspot.com and say hi sometime.
4) Mom is thinking abou taking a photography class. Which she certainly needs to, since half the time in the past she could barely take our picture without cutting off our heads or tails or something equally important! Unfortunately, we are now about half blind as every time we settle down for a cat nap, there is with the flashy box. It certainly makes my fur stand on end, I can tell you that!
Well, that's about it for right now. Thanks again Catster Cat for making us the Daily Diary Pick! We appreciate it so much!

So it's been I think three weeks since Finn joined the family, and though I was not at all sure how things would go in introducing him to Olivia & Tanner, it has gone, surprisingly, far better than I had dared to hope. Olivia sulked for six months when I brought Tanner home, so I really was prepared for the worst.
Finn is now spending every evening out of his sanctuary room, and it's really been pretty peaceful. Olivia, diva that she is, spends a lot of time pretending he isn't there, but at least she's not appearing too put out, or stressed. Tanner, on the other hand, was initially a bit miffed, but has come around beautifully, and has discovered in Finn the sparring/wrestling partner he has long craved, which role Olivia was most definitely not interested in playing. Being a kitten, Finn thinks it's quite enjoyable to be cuffed on the side of the head and drug around by his neck (no, not really!) and Tanner is so happy to have someone to "wrassle" with that he can hardly believe his luck. And Olivia, for her part, is, I think, immensely relieved that she will no longer have to serve as her much larger brother's punching bag.
