Bad news on my health front: I'm back at the Vet place again today and tonight. I woke up this morning and made a tiny tiny puddle on the floor. Then another on Mom's yoga mat. She went to touch my belly and see if my bladder was hard (Why does she DO that!?!) and I hissed at her. That's all it took, she called the Vet and had me in there this morning. At first I was just happy to see my Vet human buddies again... But then I realized they were poking and prodding in places I did not find comfortable. That was NOT pleasant or fun. I tried to purr through the whole thing. But after a while, a guy just has to howl and hiss and fuss.
They told Mom that I have another blockage and infection. They are putting me on more medications and for longer this time. (Maybe it's the same infection that wasn't totally cleared up by the meds?!) This afternoon they were all excited that I peed on my own. Huh? I thought peeing on my own is what got me back here!?! Whatever. I am one happy little medicated guy tonight. I only wish I was home with my family.

OH NO!!!! We're so sorry to hear this buddy! can we ask what your mommy is feeding you for food? We only ask because mom is learning a lot about certain ingredients that SHOULD NOT be in pet food that can have bad effects on kitties with conditions like this.
Sure! Mom's happy for any advice at this point... We're on Natural Balance; Ultra Mix; low calorie formula. It's a high protein, low calorie Petco brand of cat food. But the Vet is putting me on something special for a few weeks after this last flair up.
Mom says to note that I've not had crystals or PH problems noted yet. The Vet keeps saying that whatever I'm eating is ok to continue.
Are you talking about the dry food? I don't like some of these ingredients and you should be on a wet food diet only. I'm surprised the vet hasn't insisted on that. I gotta tell you first off, it has spinach in it and mom is right now writing a newsletter about this. We've been talking with vets at colleges, some holistic ones, even Dr. Lisa Pierson who does catinfo.org. Spinach is incredibly high in calcium oxalates and can cause crystals and man other problems. Mom just learned today that you cannot cook the oxalates out of spinach, it's too stable. They remain very, VERY high. It's probably #2 on the list of high oxalate foods. The other things I see on this list is barley and also brown rice which is all over the news as having high levels of arsenic in it. Brewer's yeast also causes a lot of allergy issues, it's not good for anyone to eat too much of that. I'd really suggest switching food to a good canned or pouch food with none of the ingredients we just mentioned.
Chicken Meal, Chicken, Brown Rice, Barley, Oatmeal, Chicken Fat (Preserved With Natural Mixed Tocopherols), Duck Meal, Potatoes, Carrots, Lamb Meal, Canola Oil, Natural Flavor, Salmon Meal, Dried Egg, Brewers Yeast, Duck, Potassium Chloride, Whole Ground Flaxseed, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Natural Mixed Tocopherols, Spinach, Parsley Flakes, Cranberries, L-Lysine, L-Carnitine, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Kelp, Zinc Proteinate, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B-1), Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, Potassium Iodide, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B-6), Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Manganous Oxide, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Folic Acid.
We're so sorry you're sick again, Purrseus, and especially that you have to stay at the vet. Get well soon! We're purring for you.
Sending you lotsa purrs.
