The life and times of Oliver aka Ollie

A bad day just got worse!

Hiya pals!
I am at the vet's tonight. I am not a happy camper. So I am going to let mommy hijack my diary.

I guess I best start at the beginning.
I woke up Sunday morning to a loud crash.
A large laminated poster that was hanging outside my bedroom in the hall was now on the floor. The wire by which it had been hanging was in two pieces.
Ollie has a passion. He jumps up and tries to knock pictures off the wall! You could say it's his hobby!
I have removed a number of them to prevent any mishaps.
I thought this picture was too big to knock pictures off the wall..
I was wrong.

Ollie is very creative in his mischief and I have to be a couple of steps ahead of him.
I have removed my headboard from my bed.

He tore open the cover of the box spring and made a hammock for himself. I was worried about the coils, so the bed frame is gone.
My bed is now on the floor. One less thing to worry about.

Under my dad's recliner is a pillow so he can't dig underneath.

A picture on the floor? Blame Ollie, but I didn't even bat an eye.
Imagine my shock when I saw him with one paw in the air.
I picked him up.
His paw was a mess. On the outside edge, his white fur was gone.
It was absolutely raw bloody flesh. One of his sweet pink pads was dangling
almost off. I was horrified.
I called the vet, where they have an answering service. She called me back within minutes.
She really thought I was exaggerating but told me that the vet tech goes in to walk to dogs and I should take Ollie in.
Lucky we live very close cause the weather was very bad.
Dena took one look and called Dr K back.
He was going to need stitches. They thought it was best that I leave him there before he could do more damage.
By the way, the wounded paw had not stopped him. He was jumping as usual but smart enough to land on 3 feet! When he walked, he really limped. So bringing him home was out of the question.
I left him in his cage, my heart heavy. He turned away from me,
clearly mad at me.
I came home and looked EVERYWHERE for blood. I didn't find any.
I am assuming it was the picture or the wire that did the damage but I can't be sure.
Today, under anesthesia, Dr K had to do a graft. She said his
wound was "impressive." Not sure if the graft will even take.
But we will worry about that if it happens.
He is also on Clavamox and got something to manage the pain.
We got home at 4:30. He was so agitated. He did not stop for a minute. Put his bandaged paw in the fountain. Hobbled all over the house. Teddy and Milo two steps behind him. Ollie and his entourage...At approximately 6 PM I am sitting at the dining
room table. I look down and Ollie is laying by my foot.
Oh good, I am thinking. He finally calmed down.
I do a classic double take.
His bandage is lying BESIDE him.
I call the vet.
WOW! She said, I think this is a new record.
So I had no option but to take him back.
I left him there.
I hope he will calm down and accept his bandaged paw.
I am too tired to think.
Please no rosies, OK?
I really mean it.
Please purr for my little brat.
I love his so much.

Love,
Ollie's mommy, Eva

Ollie, poor monkey like baby!! You must be more careful and stop scaring your mummy!!I will be purring and purring that you heal very quickly. And I am sure you will :-)

My mummy says that when she was a youngster her doggie, Lady, hurted her paw furry badly too, on ice !! It sounded like a similar wound. She was just a puppy then too. But the vet sewed it up and it healed nicely and she lived a long wonderful life. She could not purr though , since she was a doggy, and that is kins of sad!!!
Hugs to your Mummy and Maggie sends her sweet head rubs too :-)
LOVE YA!!

Chill out little Ollie! I'm a precocious orangie like you and Mom used to live in constant fear that I would electrocute myself by chewing wires, or need surgery someday because I would eat paper, furry mice toys, etc. Us orangies are extra good at making mischief, but you are going to stress out your poor Mama. Please relax and get well soon, little buddy!

Love, Sammy

Oh Ollie, Ollie, Ollie,
You are so naughty. Do I have to come over there and talk to you? I have to admit, I did the same thing to the box spring in the spare bedroom. Mom stapled it shut with fabric.

I am sending you all the purrs I can. You are really too cute to have a big boo boo paw. Now get some good sleep and leave that bandage alone. Your mommy will be back to get you soon. I cannot believe how naughty you can be! Mom said you remind her of Charlie. He may be almost 7 but she says he calms down a snitch each year.

Lots of hugs to you and your momma,
ChloƩ (KGM)

Little Ollie, what are we going to do with you? I am sending all the purrs I can muster that your paw heals quickly and without too much stress on you and your mommy.
You just have to be more careful little guy, as nobody wants to see you hurt! Of course your feistiness is part of your charm, but paw injuries are a no no!
You get well soon, sweet boy!
Lots of purrs coming your way and for mom too!
Love you lots,

Ollie - from a purely psychological standpoint, I think you need to weigh the great feelings of accomplishment against the time spent in the vet's office, and take it down a notch! It's just not worth ALL THAT, my boy! If you're honest you will admit this now and save yourself much aggravation in the future. At this point they may just put BOTH you and your mommy on valium, so you both can live long enough to see your first birthday! My only other suggestion would be neuturing, which settles down most boykitties, but your mom probly already tried that about 6 months ago!! (And maybe they can attach something like a bowling ball to your tail, MOL!) Please get well and try to stay that way! A-U-O Anticipate Unknown Obstacles! Luv, Tink

Ah, Ollie! Such a holy terror! I too love that bowling ball idea! lol Failing that, though, I think there's hope. See how he weighed in at 11 lbs. already? Notice the continuous upward trend in his weight gain? Let's hope that as it keeps going up, he will become a furry bowling ball himSELF, and won't be jumping up to knock pictures off walls etc., anymore! I love your diary and your mom's input, too! Lucky you to have so many Catster friends who care so much about you. My Spooky is purring for you too! xoxox
