Arrival Story:
I received a phone call one night from a friend. "Hey, you still want a cat?" "....What did yours destroy tonight?" It turned out that there had been a little kitten crying her head off outside my friend's apartment. He couldn't bring her in due to his very territorial cat, so I took the little fuzzball home. She was six weeks and couldn't eat dry food. Nobody ever came to claim her, so Memphis was stuck with me. She's my first pet, and she thinks that I really am her mother, since she was taken from hers at such a young age. Up until she was about 3 months old, she would attempt to "nurse" any time I wore a black sweater, and she still will tuck her head under my chin and knead if she can catch me dozing off.

Bio:
Memphis earned her nickname of Fuzzy Terrorist. She's highly intelligent, and it's a task to keep her out of trouble. Light switches? She can jump up and down to flicker them to get my attention. Locks? She can flip them. Heaven forbid she ever grows that opposable thumb to turn the doorknob -- which I have caught her doing, as well as mimicking me in an effort to open the window. She can open cupboards and wiggle out of any cone, collar, or carrying case. She was all done growing at a whopping 7.5 pounds at 9 months. And then she gained 2 more pounds and about a foot in length! Loooong tall girl

Breed?:
I think Memphis has some sort of Oriental cat heritage to her. She's very slim, sleek, smart and talky! Maybe an Abyssinian or Singapura, but definitely mixed with a black cat of some sort.

World Domination Would Be Easier With Thumbs

We're going to England....and we need your help!

Hi, it's Anna, Memphis and Tenny's meowmy. It's been a busy 2 years since I last updated this blog for the kittens. We are all fine -- Memphis and Tenny are both happy girls. I acquired a boyfriend last year, and Tenny totally has a kitten crush on him. She follows him around. She meows and looks for him when he's not there. It's super cute. Memphis is cautious, but she's always been my baby -- fairly sure she thinks I'm a cat with a balding problem OR that she's a hirsute human baby. I started volunteering for an animal rescue almost 18 months ago, and it's been quite the experience, in a good way! More kittens, less chaos in my apartment!

I finished my master's degree, and I am going to go to England for my PhD. The girls ARE going with me. I won't leave them for the world. That said, the expense of finding an apartment over there that takes cats is bit harrowing. I've set up a gofundme for moving all three of us over as well as my school expenses. I am most concerned right now with moving. I'm appealing to Catster folks, since you understand how important it is to keep the cats together and with me. I may not reach my top goal, but every single penny helps.

This is not a "help or I will get rid of my cats" situation -- that's not even an option. This is a "well, it would be nice if I could go over with more than 2 cat carriers and a suitcase" situation.

Thank you to anyone who helps. I do lurk on the boards regularly; I just haven't had the energy (or time!) to post as much. Writing a 200-page thesis saps you. I love watching all of your kittens grow up and get sad when I see old friends go. Thanks so much for being my friend. Feel free to share this link with other people you know -- we all have friends that don't get the cat thing, but who says they won't get the student thing or the ambitious young woman thing? :)

Lots of love,

Anna, Memphis, and Tenny

Summer's Almost Gone

Well, it's been an interesting summer. We moved and Meowmy went back to work full time. It is a lot nicer than the old job, and she plays and cuddles with us more. She's going to be working part time and doing full time school soon, but we think she'll be home nice and early everyday.

I am doing fine. I've been a bit aloof since the move, but I think I'm adjusting still. I'm a purry baby some nights though, which I think makes Meowmy feel better about the whole thing. I've stopped puking! Both Tenny and I might be growing again, so she may have a small tiger and a big ol' panther running around the apartment soon.

Apparently, my birthday present this year is a trip to the vet. I definitely liked my cat tree from last year better. Grr...

I've had better months...

I no likey the move. First off, I was at the VET all day while Meowmy moved. And you know I'm not going to go the bathroom there. So when she picked me up, I really, really wanted to go home....but home is now an hour away!

You can guess what happened next, and part of the reason why I screamed the whole way home.

I hate that carrier.

I've been throwing up a little since the move. Tenny threw up before, I throw up after -- probably because now I have to share territory, rather than having someone new come in. Tenny was permitted in my realm, but now we're on equal footing. Not sure about this.

On the bright side, I found a yummy new food -- Wellness Core in the seafood variety. Om nom nom! I even made that kitten noise when I was eating! It was THAT GOOD.

We're all well, and we survived the move.
