Getting on the table, the kitchen counter, or wherever my attention is focused. And he's the King of the House, so I let him.
He wants so desperately to go outside. His previous shelter had a catio, and I am a renter, so having one for him is not an option for a while.
He loves anything catnip-filled.
Favorite Nap Spot:
I made a bed out of a very sturdy cardboard box, that is elevated and stabilized underneath (actually it has a maze underneath) and it's very cool (teperature-wise) and he loves to sleep there when it gets warm.
He eats Purina Indoor Cat Formula.
I adopted Hawthorne from a shelter after the disappearance of my indoor/outdoor cat Indie.
He was a stray kitten that ended up at a local business, skinny and starving. They fattened him up for a while, but he was then taken to a shelter. He stayed at the shelter until I found him, when he was over a year old.
He is an indoor-only cat. He is a very big boy. We have a two-year-old little girl in the home with us, and Hawthorne can easily reach over her head.
He loves to climb and sit really high. He usually sleeps on top of my bed on the headboard or in his bed that sits on top of the deep freezer.
He also likes to hop up on the aquariums in our home. He was constantly removing the lid from my betta's tank that sat on the kitchen countertop and drinking his water, so the betta tank got moved to a bookshelf. He has never really showed interest in eating the betta (or the goldfish or the mollies or our Jack Dempsey, for that matter), but Hawthorne really likes to stalk our pet hamsters.
I'm so happy to have Hawthorne in my family and to provide him a forever home.
