Arrival Story:
I wanted to get 2 more kitties who needed a home since last winter 2009 but decided the best time to get kittens would be in spring/summer of 2010. So I waited and found these 2 adorable babies on craigslist.org. The family who had the kittens loved them very much and were very sad to see them go. The wife even told me she had more pictures and videos of the kittens than she did of her own kids lol. The reason why they were rehoming them was because the husband only wanted the mama cat so they decided to rehome the kittens through craigslist. They were 3 months old at the time and they came home on April 23, 2010.

Bio:
Zuko and Gaara were born and raised in a loving home and as a result they are the sweetest and most fearless kittens I've ever seen. They are purr machines and lap kittens!! His mom is a brown tabby Domestic Shorthair. His dad is a traditional Balinese and belongs to the neighbor across the street from mama cat. We named him after the character, Zuko from the cartoon show Avatar the last airbender. It took about a month and a half for the cats to accept them.

Tripple O.M.G. - Claw in eyelid!!!

I forget how crazy 2 kittens can be! Today Zuko and Gaara were wrestling and play fighting like usual. I was sitting next them and then Zuko started meowing in pain, I turned to look and ONE OF GAARA'S CLAW'S GOT STUCK INSIDE ZUKO'S EYELID!! I freaked out for a second then quickly held both of them so they wouldn't move and tear Zuko's eye/eyelid. The claw was in there for like 6 seconds but I got it out without tearing anything. I then quickly examined Zuko to see if there was any bleeding and there was no blood, thank goodness! I let Zuko go and he went about like nothing had happened! I am definitely going to clip their claws today!

The adult cats are getting along better with the kittens now. I'm finished with individual introductions. I'm letting all the cats be together in the same space. Felix and Jack still give them a little growl or hiss still. Felix touches noses with the kittens without hissing now. Felix also chases them a little, it almost looks like a play chase and gets the kittens to turn on their backs on the floor, I think he's trying to let them know that he is the dominant one. Hudson and Felix are starting to become interested in play fighting with them. Jack tries to avoid them. When any of the cats look scared I always pet all of them to make them relax and that seems to help. I'm still going to put the kittens away in their room for a few hours for another week to give the cats more time to adjust to seeing the kittens all the time.

And the kittens are doing well. The adult cats don't hate them as much as they did the first week. Felix (the timid one) became the most aggressive towards the other cats and the humans, that was unexpected. Felix is doing better though, we give all the cats treats or play with them when the kittens are out. We're introducing the kittens to each cat individually which is a real pain in the butt!!!!!
