Hi everyone, we have a request. We need purrs extra badly for a kitty on our website, Maggie. She's been sick off and on since last fall but started to get worse in January. For the last couple of weeks it's gotten even worse.
This kitty is SO sick it's just unreal. She's been in the hospital for the last two days in an oxygen tunnel. She's having a hard time breathing, she was constipated, she's hardly eating and her temp keeps spiking high and going down, spiking high and going down. They gave her a second shot of Baytril today, she's really having a hard time fighting this. I'm so scared for her and we love her and her mommy so much. They are such wonderful friends.
We want to know what the heck is going on this summer with all of these sudden high fevers in kitties? Has anyone else noticed this? Seriously! So many on here are being hospitalized for it and so many that we know outside of Catster. It's frightening. We think it has SO MUCH to do with all of the horrible heat that's been never ending. She lives in Texas so it's been so much hotter there than anywhere else other than Arizona.
Please keep little Maggie in your purrs. We're so so worried about her. Thank you.
She's got our purrs, Alex.
Thanks, Alex. We're heading on over there to help purr.
Oops. You meant IBDKitties. Does she have a page on Catster? Anyway, if she doesn't please let her know that we have Maggie in our purrayers.
Hugs & whisker kisses.
MOL! No Colette, no page here on Catster, she's on IBD Kitties. I put that link for her so everyone could see her beautiful face and know who to picture when they are purring for her. Thank you so much to you and Zach for giving your wonderful purrs so freely to a stranger.
We've got our purr machines on for Maggie! Lots of healing purrs being sent to her. This heat is stressful and Texas is super hot right now.
Thank you Gumpy! It's so nice to see you again! We've missed you terribly. We've missed being on here and we've missed all of our friends a lot lately. I think mom is getting sentimental and knowing so many kitties are just disappearing from Catster is sad. Maybe in the fall when summer is over lots of them will come back.
Please send our purrs and prayers to Maggie and her family.
Than you Rose! We really appreciate it.
Purring up a storm for little Maggie. Such a sweet little lady.
BIG PURRS going for Maggie!!! Hope things smooth out for her very soon. Hugs to her momma. Luv, Tink
We are purring for Maggie. Poor sweet girl. :(
Tigger and Family
We've missed you too, sweetie. Thank you for caring. We think of you and your family even though we haven't been around much.
Thank you so much Bella, Tink and Tigger. I always know I can ask my friends to help another kitty in distress even if they don't know them. You all have huge hearts. We think of you and your family very often as well Gumpy! We love you!
We can send plenty of purrs to Maggie! She sure is a cutie!
Thank you Skylar! She'll really love all of this help for her.
We're purring, Mom is praying. Please get well sweet Maggie. She is so pretty. Mom loves Abyssinians.
Thank you Mietzi! She is very beautiful isn't she? She's only 3 and half years old too. I hope she can pull out of this. Each time this has happened this year so far it gets worse.
I'll be sending her lotsa purrs.
The Cornish crew are sending PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSS for beautiful Maggie.

We are purring for her, she sure has been through a lot for one so young! Please keep us updated my friend!
May the Mother Cat keep her safe.
will head over to Maggies page.....give her our purrs and prayers.
Thanks everyone, she's still in the hospital. She ate a lot better today but her fever is STILL jumping up and down. Also, they took another chest x-ray and it shows "more defined margins" in her lungs which is moving in the wrong direction. I don't know what that means but her mom is really scared. Sigh. Continue purring please, she really, really needs it. It's pneumonia but I'm starting to wonder if it's something more at this point. 3 and a half really is so young! It's not fair, she's so sweet and beautiful. To survive IBD and do so well only to have this happen now.
Oh, Alex--Maggie is eating and that's a good sign. Remember Maggie has asthma. Any URI is going to be complicated by the asthma. I stopped eating 'cause I had such a hard time breathing.
Without being there, and of course there's no way to know for sure, it sounds like if they can whoop the fever and get the infection under control, she will make it. I think those "defined margins" refer to the pathogen in the lungs. We looked it up, but it's still all gobbledy-gook to us.
I'm sure Maggie's Mommy is doing all she can for her, but I still want to say how much it helped me the two times I was hospitalized last year when I saw Mommy was coming to visit me twice a day.
Sending tons and tons of purrayers and angel dust. Maggie is such a pretty girl, and she's so young! Not sure why, but Mommy says Maggie reminds her so much of me. And that makes Mommy very scared for Maggie.
Please send our love.
Gentle huggies and whisker kisses...
Kechy she probably reminds your mommy of you so much because you are both so beautiful and so sweet. Maggie's mommy did some research and because her dog had this before she wants to get Maggie tested for Bordetella. Did you ever get tested for that? I'm starting to wonder if all the dangerous heat in the whole country this summer could be causing an outbreak of this. I wonder if Pharaoh Loki should get tested for this as well. We're very scared for Maggie as well and Maggie's mommy has been spending as much time with her at the hospital as they will allow. She's so scared and trying to hold it together. She's not giving up hope though and neither will we! Thank you for your wonderful angel support Marrakech.
Sending healing purrs to Maggie and her mommy. We will keep hoping that Maggie recovers and they figure out what is going on with her lungs.
No, I never got tested for Bordetella. (We had to look that one up too.) Whooping or kennel cough right?
No, I had scarring on my lungs from the asthma, and then I had bronchial infections.
The last infection was directly related to Colette's Rhinotracheitis. Our doctor gave Colette a dose of cherry yuckies (prednisolone) that suppressed Colette's immune system to the point it allowed her Rhinotracheitis to surface. Colette started sneezing and she gave it to Samsara and I came down with it 2 days later.
We just read through maggies whole page and man has she been through a lot! what a loving and caring mommy though to give so many updates and work so hard to get her IBD symptoms undercontrol! We are purring very hard for her recovery.
Thanks Annabelle, she's still in the hospital and it's VERY VERY touch and go. They had to give her a shot of dexamethasone to get the swelling down and the inflammation shocked out of her system. She's got very bad pneumonia and now she's anemic because of it and her liver values have gone up. They think that was due to her not eating much in the last couple of weeks though. Maggie's mommy took a video of her and how hard she's trying to breath. My mommy broke down crying so bad, it reminded her of me at the end.
Reving up the PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSS over here.
The Cornish crew.
Pretty mad right now. I just wrote a really long diary for my birthday today and guess what? It's nowhere to be found. Any chance we're ever going to get this fixed?
This is a comment I left in Kaci's diary:
We can still communicate in Forums, so if you have an entry that is important, please try to fit it into a Forum category. Ishtar, forums would be a good place for World Cat Day anyway, even if it is a day late now, everyone will understand. We could also start a check-in and say HI forum, or an "I left you a pmail, but..." forum, etc.
Just a thought that will maybe tide us over, I'm sure HQ is a little, or even a LOT, rattled over this, too!!! Luv, Tink
p.s. Alex, I know this is frustrating, maybe you can back out enough to recapture it, and someone also suggested creating it in Word to save it, then copy over and try to publish. We also have "Groups" in working order. Don't know if any of this helps, but I'm glad at least the forums are working so we can keep up with the sick kitties! Don't know about you, but I have Catster-Withdrawal!!! In your case, I'm sure everybody on IBD Kitties would LOVE to hear a birthday message from Alex, too!! Luv, Tink
I thought about the forum thing and luckily mommy was smart enough to copy and paste my diary entry into a word page so we can just insert it into a forum. Withdrawal big time Tink! That's a great idea also about sending out a birthday message for the site! Thanks Tink!
Hi everyone! World cat day?? Huh?
HUH? Zach what are you talking about?
I've written my diary here if anyone would like to read it:
Celebrating my life
This is the original message about World Cat Day:

Wow, sorry about those 4 that posted before - got error messages for them so I kept trying!! MOL!!!
MOL MOL MOL
I expected some problems but dang!
Hi, Zach, my buddy!!
Zach, if it works, p mail me
It doesn't work Blizz.
It did earlier between me and Sonny Bono/ I'll try
He got me! But I've lost pmails from other kitties.
Kacey, it works when it wants to!
I meant Lacey!! Forrest and Spot are NO help!!
I went to the forums and I've sent Blizz and his crew.
Happy Birthday Alex...so many fleas...we can't even post on your forum/diary...it freezes up!
So we will greet you here. Hope you are having a pawsome furtastic day, and that the fleas won't be too much of a nuisance, MOL!
Our pmails are wonky, some pics don't show, and we too cannot write any diaries...so we are just snooping around here and there...hope that it all gets working well again, soon, or meowmy & us will be going into withdrawal symptoms!
Pipo & Minko
We're having Catster withdrawls!
I know what you mean Tigger! This is nuts! Siamese, it's fine. Wherever you are able to post I'm just glad to hear from you! Wonky is a great word for it for sure. Fleas everywhere and they don't seem to be getting fixed. Whaaaaa! MOL! I sound like Lucille Ball, MOL. Our computer freezes up in the forums too. Sheesh! Well, seems like this diary is all that's working! MOL. Everybody feel free to come on over.
Just thought I'd mention that Hazel Lucy's List for Kitties in Need of Purrs is working if anyone wants to leave an updated message regarding their illness or a message about a friend who is ill.
Happy Birthday my sexy lady angel! I forgot to say that earlier.
Guys, a kitty named Siri needs our help. She has CH, and got sick while her mommy was on vacation last week, but it looked like it had resolved, now her mommy was traveling back and now it looks like she may have had seizures and is in pain. You can read the whole thread in the Forums under "Cat Health" and "Help my cat is dying". Her mommy was going to get home and take her straight to the vet, and they are probably there now. Siri is her first kitty.
Here is a link:
Gaaaa, I can't post in the forum where your birthday message is. Alex, we love you. You and your Mom are awesome. Finney and Lacey are pretty nice too. You have such an important job right now with watching over kitties and keeping us informed about health issues. Hope you took some time out today to enjoy your birthday at the bridge. Happy Birthday to you.
Big hug and purrs,
Mietzi and Timo
running over to Siri now.
That's okay Mietzi! We are having major fleas too. Thanks for coming by and we love you too!
Testing. We left you a birfday message in your forum's post, Alex. Hours later than effuryone else, but we seem to be okay. Mommy said she's going to wait to post a diary entry, but she just sent out a p-mail for Samsara and that seems to be working. Gifts seems to be okay too. Let's see if this comment posts.
Happy Birfday, Alex.
FYI - Siri is gone, and we are weeping over this. Sorry to spoil your diary with bad news, but I think her mommy will need help to get over this. It's a heartbreaking story.
Things like this make us appreciate the furriendship of all of you even more.
The link to Siri's page is in the posting about her above this one. Love to all, Tink
Tigger, Catster withdrawals! MOL!
Geeze, Tink. We just read your post. We're so sorry! Heading over to comfort her furmily.
OH NO!!! Oh we'll definitely head over there. It's okay Tink, thank you for telling us. That poor kitty and her poor meowmy!
This is clearly not a good kitty day. My momma and I are in tears. Little Maggie took a major turn for the worse. She's got fluid in her abdomen and lungs and they are tapping it now for confirmation of it being consistent with FIP. If so, Kelli will be saying goodbye to her little girl today. My mom is crying so hard right now. It's not fair! Why are so many kitties dying of this horrible disease this year? It's scary! Anyways, please purr that Maggie goes peacefully. That's all we can hope for at this point.
We don't know what to say... Oh Alex, we were purraying so hard for Maggie to pull through this. Mommy's eyes are starting to water up too.
Please tell Maggie's Mommy how sorry we are and give her our love. Effury now and so often a kitty comes along whose photos jump right off the page and say this kitty is soooo special. People used to say that about me. We say that about Maggie. Our hearts are broken for her Mommy.
Gentle huggies and whisker kisses..
Thank you Kechy! I promise I will. My mommy can't stop crying. Maggie is so sweet and beautiful and still just a baby! Kelli has been so good to us and was always there for us from the first day I was diagnosed with IBD. She's across the country from us but mom wishes she could be there to hug her.
I’m on a roller coaster here! I have no idea what’s going on but again there may be hope! She just sent this.
Some good news. The fluid is NOT consistent with FIP. She said it looks like effusion fluid from the liver. They're going to drain it and run some more tests and she wants me to come in around 2-3:00 to visit her and talk with her then.
