You can either check in here and let us know you're okay or if you can, check into the plus forum. The thread is for this storm to check in and let everyone know you are okay. Please do so if possible through this storm for the next few days. We're worried about all of our friends. Stay safe!!!
Thank you Lacey, I checked in, hope everyfur else is safe and survives this storm!!!
Thank you Tate! We aren't hearing from too many kitties so I'm hoping that means they are doing what they need to do to be safe.
Mom & John are going to check in by phone, then relay it to you. If for any reason I don't it's because I went to my mom's a mile away with the kitties. PA has a law that when you open shelters for, you must plan for their pets too!! Good thinking!!
Tink thank you for letting us know sweetie! Please be safe and hopefully this does not produce the flooding they are thinking it will. That's a great law that PA has! Good for them!
Hope your momma stocked up on cat food and kitty litter. It was be a CATastrophe of the highest magnitude if you guys ran out!!! Purrs and prayers for everyone in the path of Sandy. Hope you guys make it through safely!
Love & purrs,
Sally Maria Angel & her mama
Hi Sally Maria and Kristi! We'll be fine here. I have a feeling that we've probably gotten nor'easters worse than what we'll get here but it's going to be much more dangerous for kitties like Tink and Blizzard and their families. Oh and Skylar's fam too. Tate might get heavier winds than we will here. We're still taking our precautions though, don't worry sweetie!
We are here for now, but the winds are starting to pick up. We'll try and check in as we can. Stay safe everybody!
My "mom" has the day off tomorrow to watch the storm arrive and wash things away. We will see how much damage the storm brings. We have a gas stove which is handy. We have enough cat food until January and litter for several weeks. She bought us more treats today, the dry wild salmon made in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Hope that everyone is safe. I believe that N.J. is going to get the worst of it. Only time will tell how everyone fares. Meanwhile, as long as we get our food, we are fine....Thanks..
Hi Skylar, glad to hear from you! Hi Alex, we just got a flood watch in the email from the weather service, not sure how much rain we're going to get.
We are just hanging our waiting for things to get interesting.
Mom already had work cancelled so she is going to hang out
with us tomorrow. She and we are happy about that. Dad has to go work.We hope he gets to work and home safe.
Purring that all our friends stay safe and sound.
Ooh Biggles please tell your daddy to stay safe! Glad at least your mommy will be home with you. That's great news!
NJ, MD, NYC, and PA look like solid slams!!
Our schools are closed.
We're seeing that on the news too Tink, purring for all of our friends in those areas as we have SO many!! That storm is HUGE!
MA schools are closed too for tommarrow. Looks like we are all in for a doozie of a storm! Be safe my friends.
They just said on the news that the storm extends 900 miles across. That's unbelievable!
All day yesterday Maumi was putting away lawn furniture, windchimes, flags and anything that could blow away, including my birdfeeders. I was angry about that. She cooked enough food for 5 days if we would loose power. She has a gas stove and can use the stove top burners. She put water in containers so we have good water to drink if our fountain stops working. We have a new screened in porch and she put away all cushions and all pillows, decorations, and the lamp from the screened in porch. She also rolled up the rug and moved it closer to the house. She is afraid the wind will blow the rain in through the screen. All afternoon I wanted to be outside on the porch, but she wouldn't let me out. I lost my feeders and I can't get out on my porch. I am not happy about either one of those things. There are a few good things about this. One thing is that Maumi's school is canceled tomorrow so she will be home with us all day. Another is that our gas fireplace really puts out heat, so if power goes out and it gets cold, Maumi and Dad will be sleeping downstairs by the fireplace. Marc and Menes will be sleeping upstairs with us too. Maumi has a wide sleep indoor/outdoor sleep sofa that she brought the mattress in from screened in porch to use if this happens. This will be fun. I can sleep on Maumi's neck or chest.
It is raining now, and the wind is blowing just a bit. I am huddled in a blanket that is draped over Maumi's leg while I am writing this. I am purring for those further north that they will come through this safely.
Sounds like you are all prepared Bastet! It might even be fun for you except for not having your bird feeder and porch.
We are sitting here waiting for Sandy and for Daddy to come home!!! Can you believe Daddy had to work?
Mommy's work is open. They stated no one will be charged any 'days' if they don't come in. Mom said they are crazy. Mommy and Daddy know hurricanes, they have been through them. Daddy says 'these here yankees are crazy' Mommy wants daddy home and so do I!!!
There is a new foster here! His name is Midnight!
I thought they were issuing mandatory evacuations in NY Ruffy? Unless you're not near that area? Me and Finney just got the storm zoomies. MOL
Well, we are not n the path of this monstrosity, but we sure hope those affected will stay safe and well. We expect to feel stronger than usual winds, get some rain and maybe some snow, We think we are getting 'fringe benefits', MOL!
Now we are going to go and sulk, because the Giants have won the world series, and we wanted the Tigers to win...sigh...oh well, congrats to the Giants, and I we know there are lot of our kitty furends who will be pleased as we are sad, MOL! That's life...
Thanks for setting up the check in place, Lacey.
Hoping everyone will be safe - I'm in Texas, so me and Charlie and Maurice are all ok.
Glad to hear everycat is hunkering down and staying safe. Meowmie's work got cancelled today too, only they wouldn't tell anyone until this morning. We have an unopened 15 lb. bag of dry food and a 40 lb. box of cat litter, so we should be okay. I won't get my drippies from the bathtub because meowmie is going to fill it with water so she can use the bucket method to flush her "litter box" if the power goes out.
Lacey-glad to hear you guys are okay and we thank you for this "thread"!
We're fine here so far. Mom brought all the deck stuff inside, but her stupid neighbors left all their plastic yard furniture in the yard! Won't they be surprised when it goes airborne!
Monster what if their furniture comes flying and breaks a window at your house? I'd go over there and ask them to bring it in! Neighbors can be so stupid and inconsiderate. Hmmph! We know this first hand.
Mom has work today, but they are going home early (at 2). She is trying to get lots done because she thinks there might not be work on Tuesday. Rusty went to his vet appointment. They will be there till 7PM. Mom can get him after 4PM. Doc even offered to keep him over night if we were worried about the storm, but Mom said "Oh No! He's coming home with me!" MOL!
What a day for Rusty to be there! I don't blame your mom for wanting him home tonight.
We are all sitting here watching the storm, so very scary and we are so worried about all of our friends in the path of this nasty storm.
Thank Lacy for asking our friends to check in, we are purring and praying for them all to be safe and OK...
Hugs from all of us
Xena and family
With being in the Uk, we are safe but so scared for you all in Sandy's path.
Please make sure you all stay safe and check in as soon as you can so that we know you are all safe. Purring for every one of our friends xx
This is a great post Lacey x
WOW is all I have to say. Mommy went outside because a sign from the neighbor's yard blew over to our house and mommy didn't want it blowing up and breaking a window. Sheesh! She got tossed around and soaked in a matter of seconds! Stupid neighbors leaving their dumb political signs on the lawn during this thing.
Maumi has been home all day with us. Woods surround our home and the tall pines are twisting at the top and there is a constant hum. The rain is falling in torrents, but so far no flooding or damage. Our lights are flickering on and off, but we still have power. There are two trees on the west side of the house that is leaning toward the house. Maumi is so nervous it will fall. If it it does, it will fall on the side of the house with gas fireplace. But we are OK and purr and purray others are too. Thank you Lacey.
Purrs for you to stay safe Bastet and thank you for the prezzie sweetheart!! Same here, wind is crazy and the house is rocking. Trees across the street are making us nervous, hopefully they don't come down. Lights also flickering on and off at times.
We just had a screened in porch completed a week ago, painting the wood, that is. The porch was finished the first of September. In to pass final inspection, hurricane clips had to be added. It was a good thing there were. That porch is my favorite place in the house, but it wasn't today.
Lacey....Stay safe, our house if breathing tonight. The winds and rains have really picke up. Purrs and huggs to everyfur and their humans in the path of Sandy.
Yes, that's what it feels like Bastet! Like the house is breathing. This storm is making me get the zoomies.
We are still doing okay. Rusty came home around 4:30 and seems content to be back home. Our lights have flickered a few times, but have not gone out. Purrs for everyone, stay safe!
I just read online that NY is having a huge storm surge and is having some major power outages. Also read about a building collapse there but I didn't see anything about it on the news. Purring for all of our friends safety and for all affected by this storm! We're still having strong winds. Glad Rusty is home and all is okay Skylar!
Well, me, Hurricane Snow, and the Taneytown Crew have lived to catfight another day! YAY!!
Tink that is great news!!! Thank you for checking in!
We are fine and purrs to all
Timmy and Family
A little late but we are well
Lost power, phone, net but nothing of note since we are all healthy
Oh Timmy that's great that you are all okay. Losing power stinks though.
