We want to just tell you that we are NOT on a river front and we're on high ground. But this is what we were talking about. Even though a storm seems like it's not a big deal and it's gone, flash flooding occurs all the time hours even days afterwards. Right now there is a damn in Camden NH that has breached and they are insanely trying to get senior citizens out of a nursing home right in the path of this raging river and I can tell you that river rages on a normal day. This is bad news. People have died around that river many times before.
AND what goes up must come down. NH is all full of hills and valleys and any rain that comes down at flood speed up north from us comes down all the rivers and reaches us hours away down south. We just had a flood warning for the river near my house which again, we're not on that riverbank and we're much higher up. Thank god!
I fear loss of life here. Several houses are already under water and some people are trapped in a trailer. Also, it appears some of these very old damns were actually damaged from the earthquake that was centered all the way in Virginia and one we got back in May that was 3.5. I felt that one, believe me. I know it sounds small but granite is solid and that's hard to move.
Please purr hard for the animals and people in this raging river's path. I don't know anyone, (I don't think) but either way, I do not want to see this again.
Again, we are FINE. But so many others are in peril at this moment.
Oh noes!!! Purrs and hope they get out of the way, quick!!
I haved not stopped purrin since I furs' heared 'bout Irene.
There's a trailor park under water. completely! I don't know if they were able to evacuate fast enough but this river is cresting at an incredible speed.
Check out the raw footage. Sorry there's a stupid commercial in front of it. damn breach
We, too, are still purring for EFURBUDDY in the aftermath!! Luv, Tink
That footage is powerful!! WOW!
and that's only one part of it. These are several rivers that merge together and when they flood, they flood in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. Lots of evacuations are going on along that river right now.
We are continuing to pray for all in all of the areas, it is so sad to see what is happening in all of the areas....
Lacey, that is very scary. We are praying that all the people and pets affected by this can get to safety.
At about 5:30 there was a storm-related death east of us. That makes two, and it's from trees falling.
Getting worse. Now a very large landslide. Check out this page, there are a whole bunch of very recent videos:
Oh Tink, that's awful.
Everybody, please, please be aware of your surroundings. This guy heard a cracking sound, but only had seconds, and pushed his son out of the way.
Tink, 2 critical injuries here in NH from trees falling on them because they decided to go out and explore right after the storm seemed like it was over.
purring hard for you over there good luck
We purring for all in flood zone areas.
Purring for everyone!
No reports of injuries or worse so that's good. But lots of people being evacuated.
My angel wings are flapping hard and I am purrring so hard and so is my family fur this tragic sishuashion! Love and bonks to all in harms way!
Thank you my special angel Indy! It's very much appreciated.
Lots and lots of purrs from us
Purring that the damn will hold.
OMC! If not one thing than another...we have refueled our purr engines and we can run them in high gear now...and we are!
Hopefur-ly no deaths. Those videos are scary stuff.
Our weather here in southwestern MI has been so beautifur that it is hard to believe that this is going on over to the east.
What a mess!
Thanks Sam, Zoe & WeBees! I guess many houses have gotten washed down the river but I think they evacuated everyone in time. Still, that's so horrible. We're looking at the weather channel though and omc there is SO much flooding going on everywhere from this hurricane! BAD flooding! North Carolina all the way up here.
Lacey, not to seem stuck in my own state cause I worry about everyone but have you seen the pics of the roads on our outerbanks? They have been washed away in five places. you can't even get out there without a boat!
Yeah! That's what I just said! LOL. I said I've been looking at the news and see all the damage and bad flooding all over from North Carolina up to here. LOLOL.
I heard they are trying to get everyone out of harms way up there. I hope the dam holds.
it is all so scary and sad for the people hurt and killed so far it seems like the catser friends we know are ok
Sending purrs to everyone affected by this.
OMC.....just dreadful this storm....have been purring loudly for everyone's safety and hoping that property isn't damaged......so sad.... will continue to purr and pray for everything to return to normal again and no more losses.
Sending purrs to NH and to everyone else affected by the hurricane!
Wow watching CNN now about all the flooding, we hope you guys are ok, very worried about all of you.
Sending tons of purrs!
It is amazing the force behind the flood waters. To sweep away homes and roads and bridges. The power it has is sure frightening. We are purring for all those affected up and down the coast.
We're all okay guys! No flooding down here, it didn't reach. But it's furry, furry bad up north. Vermont got it the worst!
