More fires, closer to our house now - please purr the firebug gets caught!May 15th 2011 5:26 pm[ View A Comments (95) ]
Well this is getting furry scary. The arson that happened last month or so was about 1/4 of a mile down the hill from our house, near the hospital! Now there were TWO last night and they were both literally a couple of blocks away. They lit a porta potty on fire at a really nice baseball field for kids near us and while the fire department was there putting that out, they lit someone's garage on fire and almost burned down their house!
Big-time purrs!! I'm so worried about you guys! Are the police not working on this case? I can't understand why they haven't caught them. Maybe they should offer a reward for tips. Do you guys have working fire alarms everywhere? I'm sure you do, I'm just worried. They better be working on it! It's on the news all the time and everyone is getting nervous around here. We do have them Monida. Mom is very vigilant about having lots of smoke alarms and CO2 detectors and making sure they're always working. Maybe she should put some in the garage but then how would we hear it? Although mom has hearing like a bat! I don't know why they haven't offered a reward yet. Mom was going to email the Mayor and ask the heck is going on so maybe she'll suggest that. They can have my toy mousies as a reward if they want just catch these awful people or person! Oh and I forgot to mention we have 2 floodlights outside that go on when someone walks in the driveway. Only trouble is, it also goes off even when a skunk comes in the yard at night looking for grubs. Maybe you can get some temporary spotlights around your house, and if all the neighbors put just 2 of them up, I'm sure it would intimidate him, and make it more likely he'd be spotted. I don't want this to be the way I try out my carrier either! When my mommy was little, her best friend on our street's house caught on fire big time and everyone had to leave the neighborhood. Mom said the flames were hundreds of feet in the air. And it was all because there were kids burning tires on the railroad tracks down the hill in back of that house. Stoopid hoomans! When will dey ever learn!? That's scary! Hope they catch that bad guy or guys who are starting them. Purring really hard for you here too. This does not sound good at all. Just try to stay calm. I know easier said than done, but if you start obsessing about it, the arsonist has accomplished what he set out to do: make effuryone really frightened. Mom says that, in a way, she had to deal with this kind of thing after 9/11. The anthrax scare in New York. Her coworkers were all panicking. You can't think clearly that way. Understand we're not poo-pooing it either. They've got to get this guy or whoever is doing it soon. Those spotlights Tink suggested sound like a really good idea. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs............ I am a scardy cat and shes afraid she would not be able to find me to get me to safty in time if anything happend. Mommy had a friend on the Police force back when she lived in NH... maybe she should send him a message about this and see what's going on! Not the same town but he might know something! Seriously, though, this almost sounds gang related, like an initiation!!! Yous could come down heres with us ( If yous can stands all the hissing) We all will bees purring that these jokers ( Trying to keep it pg, but they gets me so furry mad )Get caught, ands gets their comeuppance.....and soon!! The Catfather is on the right track, I think. In the little village where my folks have their business, there was a group of underage kids, mostly led by one kid, who got their kicks vandalizing and stealing from almost every house and business and even cars parked in the neighborhood. It went on for years. The one kid was busted a time or two, but never for anything major, and because he was underage, they kept letting him go. Until finally he and his over age friend burglarized a business to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars, and got caught. The over age kid went to prison; the other STILL wasn't quite done - amazingly they sent him back to his MOTHER... until the next time; now he's locked up in some juvenile center - hopefully never to come back to this lovely mother who allowed this stuff to go on all this time. And yes, we have reason to know that she WAS aware of his activities. (BTW, they organized a neighborhood watch in liason with the local police to combat the problem.)If you guys have school kids or know of some friendly school kids in the neighborhood that you can talk to, they may have heard word through the school grapevine. There is the chance that the perpetrators don't even SEE the connection between their "fun" in burning down a garage, and the possibility that it could spread to a house with people and/or animals in it, killing the inhabitants. Hi Colette, no, we're not panicking. It's been 2 years this guy or whoever, has been doing this and we haven't panicked until now. But he's getting much, much closer to our house and my grammy and grampy is what we're worried about. Mom is also worried about me, Finney and cousin Midnight downstairs. Oh and you didn't see where I wrote that we have yard spotlights all over the place, they go off at the least little thing too, a bug, a skunk, etc. Don't know though if that would scare him off. Our garage is like a tinder box it's so old and starting to come down on it's own so we're hoping he doesn't come over here. Mom is going to email the mayor today. This new mayor is much better than the last one. That was our new congressman Frank Guinta! Whoever voted him in as congress is a dope, he was a horrible mayor!! HORRIBLE. Crime and gangs were even worse when he was here. River if your mommy feels he might be able to look into this, then yes, by all means sure. I don't know if he could but lots of cops know each other so who knows! Somebody has to do something! Tell him all these fires are on the West side of Manchester and they're getting more brazen about it! Thanks everyone. Blizzard, we'll keep that invite open, just in case. We can all line up at the back door and watch them get their flying lessons. Maybe place bets on who will fly the best. hehehe, Moe Moe invited everyone to our place the other day in her diary too! If Zach's place gets too full, we can handle some spill over! hehehe! We're having bad internet problems right now so if I suddenly don't answer, that's why! Stupid company. We hate them big time but they're the only ones around here. I'm sorry Moe Moe and River, I had no idea. We stay so behind in reading diaries these days. I'm sorry. I called ROAD TRIP for CA too!! I vote for a month in beautiful NC, with moderate weather, and a month in CA for some REAL summer!! I will even drive! I just have to "borrow" a car from one of the neighbors! Hunter's mommy's email didn't go through to her and when I sent her another one she said she can't get her emails from even Catster! What in the world has Catster done to everyone's compuper!? This week is cold and yucky but summer and fall here are BEAUTIFUL! Okay good, so far we haven't had anymore newsletters bounce back to us. Mommy had to go mail all the toys that people won in Vern's auction and we had 15 emails for this thread alone! WOW! I know! I had a cocktail pawty on Friday and hardly anyone was there or they didn't stay. Poor Tink was talking to herself all night. Lacey writes a diary about a firebug and BOOM, it turns into a flirt fest for Zach! Figures. Well,at least you have readers! I have one reader, Tink! I guess I could count LACEY'S diary as mine. True, oh we're not complaining! We LOVE everyone coming to our diaries, doesn't matter the reason. We just think it's furry funny. We hear sirens all the time and it never even phases us but now it's starting to bother mom and she's getting paranoid. She emailed the mayor last night and let him have it about this arsonist on the loose. I was just talking to the Tabbies and was saying how I wonder if this isn't a fireman doing this. It does happen that they can become firebugs and since this guy is so hard to catch, maybe it's a pro. This is shoddy police work so we're hoping the mayor now goes to the police chief and kicks butt. Oh no!!! Sounds like a show from tv! we are happy you are ok! grumbles to whoevfur is doing this! Grumbles indeed! Oh Lacey, we are just now reading about these terrible people (or person). We are purring so loudly for you and your family that I bet you can hear that over any sirens! What a terrible way to have to live, especially having to think about your grandpawrents and you and your siblings. Pawlease keep us updated and I'll tell my mom to purray too.
