Poopyhead/Doodyhead update

[ View A Comments (34) ]

Well, he's SLOWWWWWLLLLY coming around. I did try laying on the floor last night and that was a no go for him. He took off. Lacey on the other hand walked around me and stuck her tail in my mouth. PLAH!! MOL. I ignored him completely yesterday and played with Lacey and eventually he kept staring at me but I wouldn't look at him. Usually at night when I go to the bathroom he comes in there and gets on the chair that's next to the toilet. He always kneads his paws and puts his head back looking for luvies. He did it last night but I was terrified to touch him and make him run away so I just slowly looked at him and did the opening and closing of my eyes and looked away and did it again. I didn't give in and pet him because I didn't want him to go running. He wanted attention last night and I just figured if he really wants me to touch him, he'll have to come to me. I went about feeding them normally and did everything normal except I didn't give in to his moods this time.

This morning he was a giant doodyhead again but I left him alone and figured if he's hungry he'll go and eat and he did. I just got back from Petsmart and got a Feliway, I plugged it in right next to his bed here in this room so hopefully that will help. Darn those things are expensive!!! I got the Farnam one which is the SAME COMPANY AND SAME THING but cheaper! That doesn't make sense. Next time I'll buy it from, it's much, much cheaper. I needed one now though. Anyway, if I have to, I'll get him a calming collar next.

We've had a lot of company here all week but they don't come upstairs at all. I'm sure he can hear them downstairs though, they make enough noise. And maybe he is jealous of all the time I'm spending downstairs with Midnight, I don't know. Moody little brat! Lacey couldn't care less. She's just glad when I give her any attention. So we'll see, I'm trying not to jump the gun, I just don't know when it's safe to go ahead and touch him. sigh.

Thanks for all of your help and support everyone. It's really helped me to hear that you've all been through this. I don't feel so bad now. I'll try starting the clicker training tonight.

Ingen you are once sweet girl. And a strong one at that. I'm so happy you didn't stay lost, that would have been more than I can stand. I love seeing your new picture of you all happy and cozy. You give me hope. Although I hope it doesn't take him as long to come around as you did but you went through A LOT MORE than having your eye poked!!! He's such a big baby!

Why in the world should Finney be stressed out? It's not like we have people up here to our place, hardly EVER. He's just a big doodyhead!

The way to a man's heart (human or feline) is thru his stomach. Maybe Finney needs Trout. TABBIES??!!

Every nite when Mom comes home we all run to greet her at the door and we say: open a can NOW, hurry!! For crying out loud hurry up, we're starving. You don't need to take your coat off. Never mind about closing the blinds. Just give us food NOW.

Mom says she's about to threaten me with a trip to the vet AND she's going to change my name to Jekyll & Hyde. I don't know who that is but it doesn't sound good. Oh also, you can get the Feliway stuff WAY cheaper at Don't forget to go through mom's site, we have a picture of it and a link on the Helpful Tools page.

Milo, look at the new picture mommy put up of Finney. She just took that about 30 minutes ago! Is he a drama queen or what?!
Purred by: Pipo (Catster Member)

December 9th 2011 at 10:17 pm

MOL! A Drama KING!!
And a poopyheaded one at that, MOL! Maybe Newman knows where to find some doody that is made to fit on kitty heads...
but Blizz...OMC If he has to go over there to your den...*THUD*!

These progressions in baby steps are at least in the right take them...and wait until he gives you his own headbonk as a probable signal that he wants you to pet him...a little bit only until he is confident again.

Finney, I'm glad you're doing a little better. C'mon, chillax and and be sweet to your mom. I can just picture your mom laying there on the floor and then nothing happens. I think you'll come around purrty soon - you are a big orange lovebug, right?

Maybe he's going through a mid-life crisis or going from teenager to mancat phase? I don't know I'm a just a girl...

That's funny, Jez.

I don't know Nadia but this is truly getting on my nerves. He doesn't even wait for me outside of my bedroom door in the morning for breakfast anymore. He'll come down off the tower and eat but only after I open a can. Before he used to be waiting for me. Sigh. I feel like this will never be over, like I only have one cat now. It's depressing me, I miss him so much. What if he never comes back to me? I do think we need to put some doody on top of his head. Last night I threatened him with a trip to the vet if he doesn't stop this. Don't think it worked.

Tonight is actually a full moon AND an eclipse so maybe that's his problem, maybe he's full moon moody instead of having the zoomies. I miss the zoomies.

OMC! Lisa, I am so sorry. I have been so out of the loop. You have gotten lots of good advice..
Please Lisa, you must stop stressing. You know how good they are with picking it up. I agree with everyone that you must let him come to you. Get on the floor, talk sweet, use his name a lot, give him slow blink eye kisses... but let him approach.. Alfie was my most complicated boy. He was a total orange love bug but there were times he was jealous. He knew just how to get to me~ Stop the love! MOL I always let him approach (I know it's hard!) Also his favorite treats helped.
Feliway is often on eBay at much cheaper prices.
Hang in there, I promise you, you will get your love bug back.
Love you,
PS Does he like music? There are relaxation type recordings.
Don't what they would for kitties. But they may help you :)

Hi Eva, it's okay, I know you have a lot going on too. I've tried laying on the floor he won't come. I did today put Michael Jackson music on. I know that's weird but it's their favorite and I'm not kidding. It gets Lacey singing out loud and running around. she ran up the tower today and bopped him a couple of times, trying to get him out of his shell. I've never ever put Christmas decorations up anywhere that they can reach and I put some icicle lights up in my living room today. If he doesn't go and try and play with those, I'll know something is very, very wrong. He did finally get curious and go sniffing the boxes. He let me pet him a few times when I gave him his food. Not more than that though. I've never had such a moody cat in my life! Or a moody pet for that matter. Sheesh!

Oh sweetie, you have a moody grudge holder. Just think of him as more evolved i.e. more human. One of the many reasons I called Alfie my little boy in a catsuit. It was scary how I could tell him moods by the look on his face. One time I was playing with baby Milo on my bed. Alfie was not around. All of a sudden a felt EYES on me. There he was in the doorway, STARING!
Do you know he stopped kneading me and generally stayed away from me for a few days. I shut the others out, gave him his favorite treats in my room. As soon as he was done eating, he would go to the door and ask to to go out. Give me a look that said, You think you can bribe me? It really seems comical in retrospect but at the time I felt like you. Like he would never be my lovebug again. But he was. He always forgave me. Milo on the other hand doesn't know the meaning of moods. He has one mood. Deliriously happy, silly with joy.
(Don't tell anyone, but I don't think he is all that bright.
But that's OK, so he won't go to college. LOL)
Remember Lisa, try not to feel stressed.I know, easier said than done. They really do pick it up from us, I think especially the more complicated ones like your Finney!
Give him as much time as he needs.(((hugs)))

MOL, WOW! I guess Alfie was jealous. Lacey is like Milo, happy go lucky and if I even give her one kiss or one pet per day she's as happy as a clam. Of course I give much more than that but she purrs on a dime.

K, Finny, I know what it's like to worry 'bout things comin' at you and tryin' to keep yerself safe, but the humanz is the good guys. Time to be good to yer mom now. I sometimz stays hid for like days at a time, but then I'm sweet when I come head-bonking. If'n yews don't get sweet yur ma may take yew to the vet an' de will stick you an' poke you. Then yew go runnin't to yer mom!

Now THAT'S an idea!!! That's for sure he'd come running to mom! MOL. He's actually out in the kitchen sniffing the box with decorations in them. He's been a poophead all day but slowly coming out every now and then. He's eating fine, pooping and peeing fine, no sneezing or wheezing so he can't be sick! I hope!

What do you mean when he was gone Precious? He didn't go anywhere. Oh maybe you didn't read the diary before this. It all happened because he ran into my finger and poked himself in the eye. That's it! That's the reason. Crazy huh?

OMC!!! Alexander I had to look up who you were! MOL. I've NEVER seen you post! Well, I'm doing better today. We had some breakthroughs last night. I'm going to write an update again in a little bit. Mom is worried about Midnight again but she's trying hard not to show it because she knows all the stress in this house is getting to us. So she just keeps blinking and going "Finney I love you, mmwwwaaaa!" MOL

Guess what Finney - my mom did something similar to me this morning. I jumped up and accidentally ran my ear into my mom's finger. Her nail scratched inside my little ear. :( I ran away and stayed away for a little bit, but I'm OK now. So you need to get over it too! :) It's much nicer to snuggle with your mom than to be mad at her!

Monida and Finney. You have to understand, the humans are defective somehow. They are so uncoordinated and just not designed very good. Have you ever noticed that they don't have whiskers? This would not have happened if they had whiskers on their arms & legs like we do and then they could tell when someone is coming their way. Please forgive the humans for hurting you by accident. It's not their fault that they are not perfect.
