The Floof Report
Roof is leaking! Never a dull momentFebruary 5th 2011 4:42 pm[ View A Comments (13) ]
So mom is sitting here talking with other Catsters, chillaxin' after putting a salad together and putting all the meat and fish she bought at the grocery store in da freezer. Then grampy yells upstairs that there is water coming in through his puper room downstairs all the way to the basement! Ugh. Mom races to get out of her sweats, calls her friend across the street and her neighbor next door. Everyone comes over, and they come running up the stairs with this big axe, open the window in OUR room and start pounding on something momma calls ice jams.
Maybe you can trade it for a condo on the beach in FL!!! And throw in grampy as part of the bargain!! prrrrp, Tink Or even the Virgin Islands or something. But who would want a cranky, nosy, pain in the butt grampy? MOL Wow! That's some serious ice craziness! I've never even heard of an "ice jam" but I've never seen snow as I'm a desert kitty! Glad everyone, including Gramps, is okay after all the excitement! I agree with your momma - I hate winter too! Oh Finny that does not sound good at all! I remember when we first moved in here every time it rained the back door leaked and once our litterbox tried to float away! Once they fixed the back door the 3rd bathroom started leaking from the vent (but not the other two...noone could figure that out at all as they all faced the same way). It took the workers 6 tries to get the bathroom to stop leaking. Leaky roofs are bad news! So are floating litterboxes! Im glad you have a smart mommy who knows what to do for leaky roofies. Tell that grumpy gramps to stay inside. Maybe you and Lacey need to go sit on him and hold him down, MOL! ~ Your pal, the Mischievious Bandit Sheesh, too much excitement at your house! We hope today's nice weather helps get rid of some of the ice up there and doesn't make it melt into the house. Good luck! I think Misty has a good idea there. Me and Lacey can either sit on grampy or attack his ankles and make him stop in his tracks! MOL! Well today the sun was out and it was 40 degrees so not too bad and lots of melting. Mom chopped some more ice off the roof cause it was melting so well and it stopped leaking in the house. Lucy ice jams are when parts of the ice melts and then refreezes several times. So the stuff in the back part melts and smashes into the frozen part of the front and it causes a lot of dangerous situations. That happens on roofs, rivers, ponds, all kinds of places. When it happens on rivers it blocks up the damns and causes floods everywhere. That's why we always say we need things to melt slowly instead of too fast (although mom would still be thrilled if it was all gone tomorrow). Cause melting too fast like that will be a heap of trouble for lots of towns and people's roofs and driveways. It's a big pain in the but and can be dangerous and cause roofs to collapse. There have been at least 100 roofs collapsing here in NH in the last 2 days alone! The snow compacts and when it rains, it's like a giant sponge and weighs 3 times more than it would normally. Doesn't this make you want to live here? MOL! NOT! Interesting about the ice jams! No, I think I'll stay in the sunny desert! MOL we don't blame you. Although mom likes the ocean too much and she drove cross country through the desert and had enough of it she said! MOL I like winter... when I'm warm and dry indoors ~ MoL Sounds like your Mom has her hands full with Grampy. I know from Catster friends that it doesn't seem like good idea to get old, but I haven't figured out how to stop it. I haven't figured out how to stop snow or Sweets' Smacky Paw yet... but I'm working on it. Good for Lacey braving it out to give your Mom lovies and calm her down. MOL! Let me know when you figure it out Nuk! Yup, winter is a real drag. Spring hurry up! We can't wait to see all the birdies back in our yard and the flowers growing again. We like to watch our mom work in her garden from up here on the second floor windows. She waves to us and talks to us. Yikes! Not good! Glad your Mom was able to get everything taken care of. Oh my! We're purraying fur your family dude. Hope you guys make it ok. Keep calming your furmily down! |
