Arrival Story:
When Thingy died I was out on Petfinders looking at cats. I normally do not get cats so soon after one dies, but I was so devastated by Thingy’s passing that I had to fill that hole left in my heart. Also Xena seemed lost without her. She kept walking around the house looking for Thingy and looking at me as to ask “where is she?” I found Luna (her foster name was Twister) a funny looking 6 month old kitten who looked like she had an attitude. I loved her!! I read her story which was tough. She had been thrown from a car as a kitten. I went to pet-co to meet her. Seemed she was trying to play with the cat in the next cage because they were trying to cover the sides so Luna could not see this cat. It’s not that Luna is mean, she likes to play and likes other cats. I reached into her cage and started scratching her and she instantly started purring and bumping my hand with her head. I had to have her!! I chatted with her foster mom who said that Luna, although sweet had a “Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde” type of personality and when she reached into the cage to bring Luna out she instantly turned into Hyde and started hissing and throwing a major kitty fit! Her foster mom just held her against her check and told me “she hates being held”. The second we put Luna in the carrier she calmed down and looked sweet and playful. Of course I wondered what was I getting myself into, but I let that thought pass and took Luna home to meet Xena. At first it was iffy, but soon they were playing. Luna liked other cats, and after Thingy Xena was willing to give Luna a chance. They seemed to get along fine quickly.

Luna today is as sweet as ever and purrs like a motorboat. She is very smart, funny and yes a chunky butt even though she eats the least of all my girls. She has a special talent of being able to catch things one pawed. If I toss a cat toy at her she’ll reach a paw out and catch it. it’s truly a “stupid pet trick.” She’s also my greeter and is very friendly and greets people at the door. She then hangs with us no matter where we go in the house. She’s the perfect kids cat where she tolerates them and seems to know to get out of their way. I just tell them don’t pick her up. She will rarely strike out, but she will if she gets mad enough. I do account this behavior to her rough beginning, but today she loved and spoiled.

Hi all,
Life has been quiet for a while. Mom did get this really cool Jackson Galaxy toy, highly recommend it. It’s a cool mousie on a wire with a stick and it is sooooo much fun to play with. You can get it on his website if you want it and he donates money to a lot of kitty charities so go get a cool toy for your kitty and help out those less fortunate than us. Mom does call this toy “kitty krack”. I’m not sure what that means, but it is a fun thing to play with.

Speaking of fun… Mom was having some of these guys come over. Not sure what they were doing, but they were going into all the rooms, moving stuff around and putting stuff in walls. Sometimes lights would come on sometimes they would just go off and stuff would beep. I don’t get it, but I loved following these guys around and “helping”.

And to get really fun, they opened this door in the hallway and it went up someplace. I think they are called stairs. They went up there, so I decided to go up. It was so cool up there. Lots of places to check out and stuff to look at and sniff. I heard voices and it was a bit cool up there, but still… I could smell squirrel and birds and maybe a mousie or two, although I didn’t see any.

I was having such a good time that when Mom came home and started calling my name, I didn’t bother with her. This was the coolest place and I was not done checking it out. Even when she started rattling the treat can. Who needs treats when there are dark places with interesting smells to check out?

Then it got quiet and dark and colder and I decided that it was time to leave my new playground, but I was having a problem finding my way back downstairs to my food, water and nice warm couch! I heard Mom come up and call my name, so I answered. She answered back and finally she found me! She picked me up and put me down on the stairs giving me a little pat on the butt to go downstairs. I don’t know why she couldn’t carry me so I let her know… I went down and told her how cool and neat and why was she hiding this cool place from us as she came down the stairs. She just patted me and closed the door! I decided to have a snack and drink but when Mom opened that magical door, I went for it but she stopped me. Oh well.. to the couch. Time for a nap after that adventure, but you can bet I’ll be watching that door!!

Later Luna

Hello everyone...sorry for such a long time in writing. Instead of my usual silly self, I have some sad news to report. Mama has passed to the Rainbow Bridge. They tell me the "Bridge" is a wonderful place where all animals go and play and wait for their humans, where there is no pain or fear, only fun! Sounds like a great place to me, but Mom was so sad. She had water coming from her eyes and was saying Mama's name. I tried to cheer her up by going to her, butting my head against her to let her know I am here and that I love her. Mama scratched me, kissed my nose and told me she loved me. I sat with Mom a lot during that time and she seemed to like that and scratched my ears. I purred because if felt good and I wanted Mom to feel better.

Mama wasn't feeling good for a long time. She'd throw up a lot, got real skinny and one of her eyes looked funny, but she still sat in the cat tree and looked outside checking out all the cool stuff. My little sister Bella sat next to her a lot. She's the closest to Mama since she was a tiny baby she came to live with us and Mama being a Mama took care of her. Mama was also Thingy's mom(Athena) who is at the Bridge too. I think it pretty cool that Mama gets to see her babies again.

Mom is getting better but she still says she misses Mama, but I want to tell her she's OK up in that fun Bridge place, but I'm in no hurry to get there. Why should I be? I have the best home a cat could ask for! But when I do go, I want Mom to know it's alright and I'm having fun at the Bridge... but again, no hurry to get there...

Later... Luna

Now I’m not sure what the problem is, but Mom used to let us go on the bed while she was gone. I for one loved this, and would spend my day sleeping in Mom’s warm comfy bed. Why, I seem to think it was really my bed and I was just letting her sleep in it. Now though she chases us out and closes the door. I don’t know why, but I suspect it has to do with Bella, the youngest and most devious of us. It could be because Xena, the old lady sometimes likes to potty on it. I don’t get that either, but then again Mom calls her mental for a reason.

So now we can’t go in there unless she’s in there, but me being me, I try to hide and so I can stay in there. I know Mom doesn’t see me, since I go under the bed or behind something. I think hehehehehe… I got her now! I will be able to sleep on this nice soft bed and not be bothered by the others, but Mom catches on to me all the time and even though I give her my best innocent look she knows and chases me out once I get myself settled… darn the luck. I did almost have her one morning, but she knows… I don’t know how she knows… maybe it’s because she likes to say goodbye to us and give us all scratches when she leaves, which I love. Even though she calls me naughty and sneaky, she still tells me she loves me and gives me scratches and butt rubs… oh well, to the cat tree or couch I go, but I still won’t stop trying after all, that wouldn’t be me…!!
